Retracting mirrors on 1997 Z3 Roadster

I have a 1997 Z3 Roadster. On the way home, a couple of guys asked if they could use my car in a TV show. When we went to their studio, the only way they said they would be able to get it on their set is to retract the windows. My question is simple: Is there a way to do this? I did not want to start forcing the mirrors back for fear of breaking them.

Sorry about that. I did not mean to say windows. I just want to pull the side mirrors back. Can I just force them back without causing any damage?

It looks like it is something that I won't easily be able to do unless I take it to a dealer. I guess my car won't be on TV but I don't want to take it apart and then regret it later.

    Thanks for your help!!

Wow, this sounds a little odd.

But, you said windows in your question, I'm assuming you meant mirrors.

So they moved the mirrors in, and you can't get them back? Or you have to take it back and want to move the mirrors?

It's a little confusing as to what has happened, or what is going to happen.

    Please clearify.

No.
To move them, remove the trim on the inside, and remove the 3 nuts that hold the mirrors on.
You said the key word....force. They are not designed to fold in.
And at $250.00 (at least) each (that's unpainted) I don't think you want to replace them unless you have to.

Actually, it's pretty simple to do. If you see that little triangle of trim behind where the mirror meets the body, it's held on with a little clicp. pull the trim back, and you'll see the 3 nuts (I think they are 10mm)

Should take about 5 minutes per side.

But asking was a lot better way to find out, instead of having broken parts.

    Good thinking on your part!

i believe on this car, low beams & fog lights use an HB4 and high beam uses an HB3. but, as bmw_tech_38 mentioned above, remove the old and it should be listed in the base.

Manual trans is stuck in 1 gear

This actually happened to me in my '91 taurus SHO. As they towed it off, the driver looked under the car, and noticed the gearshift linkage had slipped off. He reconnected it right there (no tools required other than we had the front of the car lifted off of the ground) and I drove home.
