this summer my ford 98 escort started having periodic problems....when i go to start the car the accelerator pedal is 'loose', as if it isn't connected to anything....engine is real real rough and rpm's drop then the car dies....it usually starts up fine the second try or the engine will rumble and in 10 sec. the rpm goes to '1' and everything is smooth....

doesn't happen in a specific weather temperature, doesnt matter if it is the first time i start the car or 16th time in that day...

now i've noticed the engine sounding rough while my foot is on the brake, rpm drops to the half mark (less then '1') and i'm afraid it will die for good.

yes, i had the car checked out...they hooked it up and found no problems and said the fuel pump pressure was fine...of course the car didn't have any problems when the mechanic had it - he said he couldn't find the problem unless 'it' happened while he had it....i'm just scared it might die for good when i'm on the expressway one day.

I have a vibration at 70 miles per hour

if the wheel alignment is faulty ( castor wobble ) at 70 mph there is no way that you can describe it as a vibration as it virtually rip the steering wheel out of your hands. If it is a torque converter problem then at around 3850-4025 rpm stationary there will be a vibration of the vehicle and engine The sort of vibration that you are experiencing at 70 mph will come from a drive line problem. If rear wheel drive then it could be faulty "U" joints, worn slip joint or failed rear engine mount
If front wheel drive it may be cv joints or bent drive shafts, wheel bearings or brake callipers not moving freely on the mounting bolts.

When i put my Rav-4 on Drive and only Drive with my foot on the brake it vibrates

Check engine mounts or transmission mounts also check drive shaft mounts. Failed mounts will create vibrations at idle and or in general.

Some engines that have the hydraulic serpentine belt tensioner that can bounce around and make a nasty vibration as well, it makes it seem like engine mounts.

I put the emergency brake on my 1995 cadillac deauville to park, when I get ready to leave, it seems like emergency brake will not disengage and then , whe Im driving the regular brakes WILL NOT WORK! Very...

Have it towed to a shop! Do not drive this car! It seems that either your brake master cylinder or the brake booster or both have failed. You can no longer count on having brakes when you need them.

Brakes failed, went to floor, brake light came on what now?

Check the inside of the tires to see if you find any brake fluid, some flex pipe going to the front calipers or rear wheel cylinder might have busted.

Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. It may point you to some trouble. You may have a computer failing, but get the scan first.

Is the engine light on? If not, It'probly time for an idle air control valve. Also check the motor mounts. Put the car in drive, hold the brake and give it some gas. Do the same thing in reverse. If the motor moves more than a few inches, you may have a broke motor mount.(you watch the motor, let a friend work the gas)

1987 ford escort Gt hatchback 1.9 ltr engine doesn't start all the time some times it just clicks maybe solanoid. I push start it and it starts being a standard. When it turns over it turns over great....

Starter is beginning to fail. It has a dead spot or two and my luck of the draw you are occasionally ending up on the dead spot.

Plan to eventually replace the starter.

Hope that helps.
