Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

Speedometer Do you know how I would start a recall? Sounds like an adventure I haven't tried. Especially when they told me it was $575 to fix it. Gonna research it.

I'm was just thinking the same thing. It seems this problem is quite common and of course it would wait until the warranty was up to show up...

First thing to do is do an internet search to see if other owners have the issue. You may also contact the Federal transportation safety board.

2003 GMC Sierra, just had the speedometer quit working..reading other posts that there was a recall a few years back we never received and now dealership want $500 to fix. Any other solutions to a cheaper...

if there was a recall the dealer would have told u, they are required by law, so most likely the problem is not under any type of free program, I don't know what work needs to be done exactly, without the labor time and the parts that need to be replaced I can't advise if the cost is high or otherwise.

This is a well known issue with model years 2003 thru 2005. There is a chance GM will replace it under recall... Call the Chevy Customer Assistance Center 1-800-630-2438 to find out.

If not and you want it fixed, try Southern Electronics at http://www.instrumentclusters.com/.

2001 dodge durango v8 4.7

If the speedometer still works, then no you don't need the speed sensor. The problem sounds more like the catalytic converter Which was a recall item on most Durangos and Dakotas for that year should be replaced for free at the dealer.
