Question about 2003 Mazda Mazda6
Stuck in park
Put your foot on the brake before you attempt to put the vehicle in gear... if you cannot do this the safety switch will need replacement... i would check for any blown fuses first tho.

Move the steering wheel back and forth if it is locked that is the problem and you will have to move it back and forth while turning the key if not the ignition switch will need replacing

SOURCE: Stuck In Park
I had the same thing happen to my car last week and I had to replace the shifting mechanism. I bought the part and replaced it myself to save money.. would of cost 600 dollars to do at the dealership. It is covered under the warrently if you're still under 36,000 miles

SOURCE: car is stuck in park
The shift lever cannot be moved from Park until the brake pedal is depressed. If the brake sensor is not functioning then you will not be able to shift.
