Question about 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser

05 PT electrical problem

The dome lights, radio, power door locks, power mirrors, and trip odometer do not function in the car after I replaced the battery. I accidentally connected the battery backwards when installing it and it made contact for <1 second which is more than enough time to fry something. The odometer tells me there is no fuse but I have checked EVERY fuse in the car and under the hood. All are fine. Any suggestions?

Dome light, power door locks, radio not working

Hello! Check fuse #11 (15A)...Are your Mirrors and Wipers working? If that fuse is good and mirrors/wipers with dome, door locks and radio are not working it looks very much like a defective Ignition switch...send a comment...

Interior wiring in drivers door. Radio, mirror lights, dome light on console, trunk light, power door locks and electric mirror switches don't seem to work. I suspect a fuse, #4 20 amp. under the hood and...

do you have an aftermarket stereo? if you do, unplug it and see how long the fuses last. check your lighter and make sure there are no foreing object in there that can cause a short. when you replace the fuses, take notice of which action causes the fuses to blow... for example, door lock unlock, are they still ok, door lock, lock..check again, mirror left, still ok, so forth and so on. take it one at a time and see which action causes them to blow. when they blow do it again to see if the same action that caused them to blow the first time did it again, then trace those wires. you probably have a bad relay somewhere.

Below the odometer it indicates no fuse,

The IOD fuse is missing or burnt out. IOD is "ignition off draw" which serves as the dome lights, radio memory, locks and other things powered with the key off.

No fuse on odometer

The CEM or Computer Engine module is located on the fie wall, it looks like a small box with electrical wires coming out of it. If you are standing in front of the car the box will be located to the right on the fire wall. You may need a new main fuse or fuse linkage. Look in your fuse box and see what fuse may be blown. You also have ( 2 ) fuse box/location for your car ; one in side the car to your lift knee and the other under the hoog near the battery. If you crash was on the side of the battery you may need to replace all the wiring that could have been pinch or damaged in the crash. Any electrical wiring can blow a fuse because the are all connected in a complete circle. So, you must trace all electrical wiring especially on the side of the crash for damage. Go to a junk yard for your parts, the part my not be at the dealer or out of stock to be special ordered........runjoe
