The power lock fuse on your explorer is fuse #18 25 amp located in the central junction box. The central junction box is located on the driver's side end of the instrument panel. Open the driver side door and there should be a access panel. Fuse # 18 is in the second row from the left and the fifth one down. Hope this helps.

1997 Ford Explorer 5.0 V8 AWD diagram of wiring in Drivers door?

do to any electrical work remove neg battery lug first
and not blow up expensive modules.
door locks dead
or door windows
or both.
?
just one door fails?
all flush checked.?
pull battery neg lug then put back the cut wire properly ,soldered and heat shrink tubing used,
then replace all blown fuses, and put back battery neg lug last?
this car uses a GEM module to direct all that, to windows
and you do not want to blow up any GEM, ok?
lets do fuse related.
F8 maxi fuse 30amp in battery junctionbox. boom
f10 same box same amps and same maxi fuse type.
fuse 10 also blows and all door locks dead too.

so when you short out wires things die
checking fuses is always first. or CB circuit breakers, none here CB.

Need fuses for powerwindow

The fuse for the power windows also comtrols the power door locks and power seats so if you are not having problems with the locks and seats as well this is not you problem. Anyhow, the fuse that covers these funtions is lovated in the power distribution box located under the hood in the engine compartment. It will be in the number 10 position (see picture of fuse layout below) and should be a 30 amp "maxi" fuse light green in color. I hope this helps you and good luck.

I just bought a 97 Ford Explorer AWD. V8. The AWD will not kick in when the wheels spin.

Check and see if you have locks that have to be turned on the front wheels, in the center of the hub to lock the front wheels into 4WD.

Best regards,

Blew a fuse for my power windows looked in both boxes under dash and under hood looked in manual does not show a number or location

on my 1997 explorer the power window and door lock fuse is under the hood. fuse box driver side, passenger side of fuse box, 5th or 6th from front of vehicle. I now use fuses with LED in them so when they go out they light up bright red. easy to see even in full sunlight. cost about 3 dollars more but worth it. 30 Amp fuse.

Pass. side trailer turn and brake lights out 1999 ford explorer

if your vehicle lights are working all the fuses will be good. follow the cable from the towing socket on your vehicle , it will most likely go behind one of the rear lights to connect into your cars system,
check your tester where the cables join and you should find the problem. hope this helps.
