2003 Toyota Sequoia 4WD

I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia 4wd and when I start the Vehicle the VSC Off and VSC Track instrument lights come on and off like they are supposed to do. But when I put it in Drive, They come back on and stay lite. Anyone know what is wrong and how I fix it, as the warranty went out 1,000 miles.

just had this fixed; $95.00. your computer needs to be calibrated---yeall node or something like that. they did say that they have only seen it on wrecked vehicles. my problem started immediately after emissions.

My 2002 Sequoia just started doing the same thing today. First the Brake light started going on and off about 2 days ago so I thought I needed fluid. Now the VSC lights were staying on too. I agree with phillipducle as it seems to be related to the cold weather.

Toyota Ed- my vsc trac / brake lites started shortly after the ball joint recall problem was fixed, could this be related

Our 2002 VCS ligh will come on and also the Trac Off light comes on after you drive. The car will shake a bit when it comes on. We are in Florida, so that cold weather has not effect. We have not taken it to the dealer yet, but we will shortly. Auto has 113K miles.

I have a 2002 Sequoia, same issue. VSC TRAC VSC OFF lights are staying on. It seems like Toyota USA is avoiding a recall or something since many people are having the same problem. I only notice it when the outside temperature drops below freezing. It only occurs only the initial start up and then when you cut off the ignition and restart it, no lights appear. I have tried to get it looked at by the local toyota dealership, however, when I drive the car there with the lights on they cut off the vehicle and no warning lights are on when they restart it. What do I need to do. I like the car but I feel that so many are having problems.

I've had the same problem with the lights for years. Reported before 36 k and was told nothing wrong. I told them I wanted it documented in case I ever did have a problem. Lights continued to come on occasionally, usually when cold, but no problem yet. The summer of 07 the lights came on, the vehicle made a wierd noise & lost power for a second while backing up, I thought it was from water on the ground. Dec 07 it was cold one night as my wife turned from a parking lot into oncoming traffic. The vehicle lost power temporarily, luckily the car coming right at us turned. Toyota said I needed 2 computers, but refused to cover even though it was a documented problem. They said I should have taken it in every time, so I could be told nothing was wrong each time I guess. I took it to my own mechanic & he found a steering sensor that was out. Long story short: these lights malfuntion for tons of reasons, but don't ignore them because it might get you killed. Instead, if they come on just put the vehicle in 4WD which overrides the VSC & Trac system. Next time you start the vehicle the lights will probably be off & you can turn 4WD off. Otherwise you will spend a lot of money & it may not work a wek before it starts again.

I have a 2003 sequoia ltd and i can tell you that the virtual traction control lights will come on after ignition and remain on as a result of anything that has affected your vehicle operation. from sensors to seals, the computer is designed to shut down the traction control if it has determined that any part of the engine/mechanical systems has malfunctioned. first it was the abs had to be reset after i slammed my brakes on. next i needed a new fuel/oxygen sensor, the passenger primary, and after having fixed both the traction control operates properly, lights go off after ignition and stay off. i think the vehicle operates more driver friendly when its off, because it doesn't go off every time one of the wheels slips. i expect it will happen next time something else malfunctions, its toyotas way of annoying you into their service shop. go to a tune-up shop, (minitune) instead they'll tell you whats wrong and it'll be cheaper.

Looks like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. But, you will have to get them scanned to determine which one is not being read by the computer.

The most likely culprit is your spark plugs. replace them and if that doesn't fix it, take it auto zone, have them code read it which will tell you which ignition soilinoid unit ( you have one one each spark plug) is bad. retail is really expensive. You can get an entire set online for the cost of one at auto parts store. Takes 2-3 minutes to change.

defeat it, ? sure...
and that is false, it comes on for many reasons. read the operators guide yet, it tells you all about that., my 4wd car has defeat knob for offroad, usage, read yours. please, its there.

the stable light can glow for many reasons,
1: normal , it saved your bacon. slips. aggressive driving ice or dirt.
2: abs is not working, or transmission not reacting right.
3: brakes bad.

read the operators guide
then the real FSM on your car, it explains all that,...

Try unplugging the 4wheel drive actuator and see if it will disingage; if that doesnt work then its probably in the transfer case itself.

Check engine light, VSC off, and VSC light are all lit up on my 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Doesn't matter what dash lights stay on after the motor starts,
you still have systems with a fault code that needs to be diagnosed

If you Google your car & VSC you can read for hours

Toyota Rav4 D4D 2006,warning lights check engine,vsc,4wd system fault displayed. Took to dealer for diagnostic check ,error code p1238 injectors they said. quoted me £2100 to replace all units. only 2... would the injectors have anything to do with the vehicle stability control/4wd.??if it were injectors at such a low mileage you would feel a real lack of as toyota own diahatsu you could save yourself a fortune if you ask them to diagnose a fault!!to check vsc is working put car in 2nd and floor the pedal turning as tight a circle you can should stop the inside wheels from check 4wd do the same and you will feel the car trying to pull itself will see what i mean.!!!

When i started my 2006 rav 4 this morning these lights came on and are still on, brake light,4wd light, ABS, VSC LIGHT?

If you had your foot on the brake while starting brake light could come on. If a catalytic convertor does not pass at startup (possibly ox sensor or whole convertor) then the computor turns 4wd vsc and check engine light on. note the six cylinder has three catalytic convertors and the four cylinder has two. Very expensive if convertor(s)
