Question about 1999 Jeep Cherokee

1999 JGL low fuel pressure backfires when the gas is applied

The car had had all sensor replaced. The fuel pump has been replaced twice. We cannot get the fuel pressure to the correct rpm. It is only running at 20 instead of 44. When the car does start it will run rough for about 10 minutes and then stall. We cannot start the car again until it is cold.

96 Dodge Dakota V6 replace the camshaft and crankshaft positioning sensors and when it runs it runs good but it goes to acting up and backfires then if it does that it will not start for nothing

Did this problem start after these sensors were replaced or were these sensors replaced to possibly correct the problem you are experiencing? The back firing may be the result of low fuel pressure indicating the fuel pump is weak/getting bad. I would suggest having the fuel pressure tested when the vehicle is in the backfiring/no start mode. Sounds as if the fuel pump may be a problem

Check the crank position sensor. Also it could be as simple as a bad coil or coil wire. It definitely sounds electrical if you hear fuel pump priming. Also check distributor cap and rotor. Hope this helps

Have your fuel pressure tested, sounds like pressure is low either from plugged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump, or both. Takes about 10 minutes for mechanic to test it, then you can start from there, if, or if not fuel related.

backfiring is a sign of low fuel pressure. sputtering is a sign of a misfire, You should have a code stored. Get the code to further diagnose

1999 chevy blazer wont start

THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD.

if your losing fuel pressure after the pump runs the drain back valve in the pump has failed.

and i doubt that you are seeing enough fuel pressure to run a vortec engine.

low fuel pressure equals a non running vortec

No power when hit the gas

The fuel presure should be at least 60- 66 psi key on engine off, and then drop some when started, if it doesn't go any higher than 50 psi that would explain your backfire concern. If it is low then the fuel pump is weak. I have also seen soot on the little wires inside the Mass Airflow Sensor cause a concern like this.
