Re: service engine soon light
Sometimes if you leave your gas cap loose or you don't get it on right it can set this code. Check your gas cap and clear code with your scanner. If it comes back on you will need to take it into your dealer as it should be under warranty.

You should have an EVAP leak test done . It could be a leaking purge valve , you could need a new gas cap as well or it could be the fuel filler neck . or assorted hoses or the fuel tank pressure sensor . If the check engine light is lit there will be a code . DTC P0442: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected or
DTC P0455: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak
DTC P0446: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Vent System Performance
You have to jack up the vehicle , the purge valve is attached to the engine behind the A/C compressor .
P0456 - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak)
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the complete evaporative emission (EVAP)
control system for the presence of a very small fuel vapor leak. The system failure occurs when a fuel vapor leak from an opening as small as 0.508 mm (0.020 inch) is detected by the EVAP running loss monitor test.
• Very small holes or cuts in the fuel vapor hoses/tubes
• Loose fuel vapor hose/tube connections to the EVAP system components
• EVAP system component seals leaking. See the Possible Causes for DTC P0442
Check for a missing fuel filler cap or the integrity of the cap.
Check for loose or damaged vapor hoses. Visually inspect the EVAP canister inlet port, CV solenoid filter, and canister vent hose assembly for contamination or debris. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous
NOPE CANT ERASE CODES UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED OR THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT SOON WILL STAY ON. CODE PO441 - EVAPORATIVE EMISSION EVAP SYSTEM INCORRECT FLOW DETECTED.CHECK INTAKE VACUUM HOSE CONNECTIONS AT THE EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE.IF ALL IS GOOD.THE EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE COULD BE BAD. CODE PO 442 - EVAPORATIVE EMISSION EVAP SYSTEM SMALL LEAK DETECTED. EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LARGE LEAK DETECTED FUEL CAP LOOSE OR OFF MISSING. CODE PO 446 - EVAPORATIVE EMISSION EVAP SYSTEM VENT CONTROL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION.
P0442 Means you have a leak in your EVAP system.
The EVAP system prevents gas vapors from entering the air .
This code can be set by a leak in the lines os a cloggedcharcoal canister.
Most common reason is If you did not put your gas cap on all the way.
Hope this helps

I do not have the PO449 code, but it is in with
the EVAP System codes
You will need professional help with EVAP Leaks,
only because they are so small, and there are a lot
of components in the system
So an EVAP Smoke Machine is used to find them.
It is about $1100 piece of equip. Fairly cheap and
fast at finding your problems.
Also a scanner may be necessary to actuate components
That is 9 grand plus 2 g for software.
No one ever puts a machine or computer on your vehicle, ever.
What is used, is a code reader or scan tool,to look at your
vehicles ECM or PCM. Your vehicle, is more of an assortment
of processors,than computers.
The Evap leak is the least of your worries right now, concentrate on the rich exhaust which sounds like there is a spark plug not firing and raw fuel is going out your exhaust system which could damage your cat.converter.Can you get the exact codes that were pulled by autozone? the P0 #s would help try to track down your problems.
