Question about 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The alrm is going off randomly. I have tried "resetting" by locking and unlocking the hatch as well as the doors. I am using an aftermarket key fob but have been for several months without any issues. Any suggestions?

I had this problem on my 1997 Lincoln Town Car and it turned out, after leaving it at ford for 3 days and no help, that all I needed was a new battery. Hope it is that simple for you. Good Luck, Greg

its possible you dont have the right key. some vehicles were made with a valet feature, door key only works the door and ignition switch but not hatch

My 1994 jeep grand cherokee wont stay running and tthe security light is on

Generally you can clear that by locking and unlocking the drivers side door using the key. Also try hatch lock and sometimes passenger side (rarely but sometimes used).

Pull the battery cables, hold them together for 3-5 minutes, this resets the cpu in the car. That should fix it.
