I have a 98 Honda Accord. When the air or heat is on there is a humming noise coming from under the glove box. It is quite loud. The more I turn the air/heat up the louder it gets. Any ideas what might cause this? Could something be stuck in there? Thanks

Re: air causes noise beneath glove box
Most likely there is a mouse in the blower motor or a nest very common you would have to remove that. if that is the case i suggest putting bounce laundry sheets under your engine compartment and gurenteed to keep the mice away!! keep them away from extreme hot parts and belts.

-There are couple thing that cause not to start:
*Before check the following, make sure battery is full of charge.
1. No thing at all. Possible Corrosion battery cable or bad connector or starter relay. (Visual Inspect it) Clean it or tight it
2.Click but never turn or start. Starter has dirty contact or worn out. (Replace W/new one)
The code in the Glove box is just the serial number to the stereo, It is
not the unlock code itself. Call a Honda dealer and give them this
number. They should give you the code for free. They did for me.
Open the glove box. Remove the damper from the glove box then let the
glove box hang down. Remove the dust and pollen filter assembly from the evaporator case. Remove the filter from the housing, and replace the filter.
Here is a picture to help you.
Hello los190uni. I suspect you have a cabin air filter that is clogged. In behind your glove box there is a 2 part air filter designed to reduce dust and pollen from coming through. You need to remove the glove box, the frame around it and the cover for the filters. They are a bit of a pain to do but not impossible. Honda should have designed it better than they did. If you have further questions please ask. Best of the season to you.
I checked, and could not find a part listing for your year. Apparently Honda began using cabin air filters in the 98 model year of the accord. (that year and newer is, I believe easily accessed from behind the glove box. ( I changed an 04 accord recently, which was easy to replace).
It could be the ABS. MY HONDA DOES THE SAME THING.
I took it to PepBoys yesterday and they could not connect to the
computer interface. They said I need to take it to a honda dealer
so they can connect and determine what is wrong with the
Automatic breaking system. The noise is the ABS motor
turning on and off.
ok well its possible there may be something stuck in the blower motor under the passenger side dash. ..or the blower motor itself could be on its way out, sometimes leaves or sticks from trees and even stove inside the glove box can find their way into the windshield cowling and into your blower motor..u can remove it to check by unplugging its white connector and remove the 8mm bolts that secure it into the heater core box..its very easy to remove..the 8mm bolts / screws should also have a phillips head on them...
well that's where your ac blower motor is. you may have something wedged in it smacking the blades on the wheel or the bearings in the blower motor could be going out but that would making more of a hum or a grinding noise.
