Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck
Driving along usually near the begining of a trip (5-20mins), suddenly you will feel the truck surge, ever so slightly and then..wham, no accelerator, touch the pedal and NOTHING happens, but the truck is still running!... pull over and restart, engine light is on, and pedal is back... this will happen while I am driving....anywhere from 30-50mph! Any suggestions?
Disconnect your alternator. I had a similar problem with a 2001 Ram 2500. I found that the alternator was surging and causing the automatic trans sensors to disengage the trans creating a slipping feeling. This may be the cause for your problem.

This is referred to as a drive by wire system. meaning you have no accel cable. it uses a sensor on the gas pedal and on the pump. probably the pedal sensor going bad need to check the code and go from there
