I recently upgraded from a Nokia N95 to an LG Viewty phone on Orange. I have a new-ish Ford car with the built in Bluetooth phone connectivity which allows me to make handsfree calls via the on-screen display and steering wheel controls in the car. It works very well.
Or at least it did on the Nokia, but not on the Viewty. I can pair the phone with the car, and I am able to make and receive calls OK provided I select the contact or enter the number on the phone.
But the ability to view the Contacts Book directly via the Ford on-screen display is no longer available. I thought it might be an issue with storing contacts on either USIM or phone memory, but it doesn't seem to work for either. It's also odd because, at least according to the Ford website, the Ford contact book integration is compatible with other LG phones.
It might be a bit of specific problem to LG & Ford integration, but any help is appreciated.
I have also a new Ford Focus 2008 with the Blaupunkt Navi NX 7" Touch Screen System and the Nokia Bluetooth Car Integration for Ford.
It was working perfect with the Nokia 6021 phone, but I have problems with my new business HTC TyTN II (with Windows Mobile 6.1).
I do not see the names and numbers of incoming calls on my Nav screen.
-   I have more or less the same problem with a Ford Ka Sound and Connect and the LG Viewty.
The phone works basicly with the Ford Ka Sound an Connect, however it is not possible to copy the complete or single entries of the phone bool to the car kit.
Due to LG the Viewty does not support the needed Bluetooth profile.
There are no problemns with other phones e. b. Samsung.

While SYNC may be compatible with other LG phones, unless it is explicitly stated that it supports that model, you may be out of luck. In general, any phone with bluetooth will work with at least the handsfree part. For the more specific profiles (basically bluetooth functions like contact book transfer, sms send/receive etc) you're at the mercy of the compatibility list. I've tried several models of phones not on the list to find they'll all do handsfree, but wether they do anything else is iffy.
It may not even be a SYNC issue. If LG decided not to include the contact book bluetooth option in that phone, then that's LG's fault.
Car should be under warranty. First stop is to the dealership. Sounds like sync software issue. You may need to wait until an update is available. Good luck.
