Question about 1998 Volkswagen Passat

Indicators stopped working

Hi,

I have a Passat 1998 1.8t. Last night my indicators just stopped working. I tried to find the problem in the fuse box but no fuse is damaged. I wonder if u can give me some tip.

    My VW Passat indicator lights stay on when i switch them on left or right. I don't know what is the problem, also the fuse is ok.

    Any suggestion?

    remove the 4-way flasher disassemble and clean between the contacts.you may have to tape it back together.beats buying a new one .check your 4-ways and flashers now they work.

    Hi there, i have a 1998 VW Passat1.8t and my indicators have just stopped working both inside and out. We have looked at the fuse box but there doesn't seem to be any damage there.

    Any suggestions????

This is a common problem on the 96-01cars, both the Passat and the Audi A4. The turn relay has died on you. It's built into the hazard light switch on the dash. This is a $20-30 part available at any Audi or VW dealership. Replace it and you'll be fixed.

hi, the indicator / hazzard is the tall relay (usually on the top PINK OR PURPLE above fuses). this is marked on the back of the FUSEBOX cover with arrow left and arrow right. gerry

Indicators not working tried to chance fuses no luck


Do the hazard lights work? if not replace the hazard light switch. Does it have a towbar? if so check the towbar wiring

No lights and ac and indicators


suspect x relay or wiring for this problem this relay controls all circuits for all inop components ,may also be fault with ignition switch has twin circuits one for aux, as above and one for ignition for engine aux may be faulty, hope this helps phil.

Indicators/Hazard Lights


hi there, i had the same problem and all i did was change the head light/indicator relay and this seemed to sort it out. The relay was 21 on mine, part no 111953227D hope this helps
