Question about 1988 Daihatsu Charade
I am not a mechanic by profession, but have a little knowhow on that trade.I recently buy a 1988 daihatsu charade(3 cylinder engine).Due to the presence of oil in the radiator water i was opted to replace the head gasket, regrind the engine valve, and replace head seals. When the head was done i find it hard to start the engine,so i buy a new distributor contact point, spark plugs, and high tension cables. The car was able to start but i find it hard to keep a good engine idling. Is my carburator defective.Could anyone kindly teach me how to adjust proper Air/Fuel adjustment. And one thing more, there is still bits of oil in my radiator water but not in the engine oil sump.I flushed it twice but still bits of oil appears.I urgently need an experts advice.Thank you
If you have oil in the water it smacks of a problems with the gasket or a crack in the head. Did you tension the head with a torque wrench? Did you retension after the first drive, with engine cool? What do the spark plugs look like?
Did you adjust the ignition timing after replacing the points?
