My car will not start the security light was blinking before it would not start again.also engine service light was on.I thought my anti theft system locked my car but I have reset it it still will not start
This happened to me as well - always at the most inopportune time. When you get this, turn the ignition off, then turn to on (do not start). Let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Once the security light quits blinking you are good to go.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

THIS IS EXACTLY THE REASON..... Man i hate Grand Ams. This problem happens in EVERY GM vehicle. But for some reason Grand Ams from 2001-2005 have this problem the MOST. This can be very costly to fix, but is also reasonably easy to bypass. Anyway, here is a link that explains EVERYTHING and gives you some ways to bypass this system so it wont do it again. Some advise, dont take this to a dealer. Ive heard horror storys about passlock security bills being upwards of 1500 bucks. Bypass this yourself and be rid of it forever. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
I have this issue, and the previous answer is wrong. If the security light is on, turn the key the the "accessory" position. The securuity light will be blinking. You have to leave the key in this position for approx 10 mins. The security light will stop blinking. Then try to start the car. I have to switch it to the off position first, before it will start.
Turn the ignition switch to the on position and let the light blink. It should stop in about 10-20 minutes. then you can start the engine. if the light does not stop blinking likely the key switch is bad or, (less likely the module). Make sure your battery is in good condition when doing this or it wii kill the battery before the coding is complete (use a jumper to a good battery if necessary but don't turn the other vehicle on)
Check to see if you have a computer chip on your key. Chances are that the computer chip or the reader in the ignition keyhole is not reading it properly. If you leave the key on, engine off, for 15-20min. that security will reset and the light will go off. Turn key off and now try to start engine.
Turn the key to the ON position for about 15 mins. then turn the back one stop. After that, try to start the car again. If that doesn't work turn the key all the way back to the OFF poistion for a second or two and then try to start the car again.
My daughter had this issue and I found this solution on another site and worked perfectly. They says this can happen if you attempt to start the car to quickly. It will enage the security system. They recommend turning the key to the ON position first and wait until the instrutment gauges re-set before attempting to start the car.
