Question about 1991 Ford F150
Today at work i started my truck and drove it over to my buddys truck to get something out of it. i called myself putting it in park but not sure. the next thing i no my truck is backing across the parking lot . i run it down jump in hit the brake and grab the shifter slam it in park to get it to stop before it goes threw the glass doors at the shop. after we all had a good laugh about it . i got back in to start it to move it out of the way and when i got back in i smelt a burnt smell like wires burning . the head lights work windows work radio works turn signals work. we put a screw drive in the plug but it did not acre or it did not pop. it just turns and turns but no fire. i have not long put new wire and plugs on it new ditributer ignision modulator and ajusted timing
From what your desribing your truck shift linkage needs adjusting if it is not starting and this is happening i would first went to the safety nuetral switch mounted on the tranny by your shift lever it might not be lined up because of the shift adjustment try with somone helping you chalk the wheel have some one help you under your truck you should see a nut that holds your shifting arm to your tranny loosen have someone inside hold shift level up tight to get the play out make sure the lever arm on your tranny is all the way either forward or backward in the position it should be in for park retighten nut if the neutral switch is slightly off it will create no start condition good luck
