Question about 2000 Pontiac Sunfire

Breaklights not working

The break light on the trunk works, but not the 2 primary break lights. Have checked the fuses and replaced the bulbs, still no luck. All the other lights work fine.

You need to check the brake light switch, which is located under the dash, just above the brake pedal rod.. when you step on the brake pedal there is a spring loaded switch just above it that is allowed to expand, thus making an electrical connection and energizing the brake lights.

1977 Dodge Tioga, my breaklights were working and the blinkers weren't, I tried putting in new bulbs for the blinkers but as soon as I did that the break lights stopped working. Is it a fuse?

Could be a fuse but if it is you probably did something that caused a short circuit. Fitting a wrong bulb is not unusual.

Unlikely both rear blinker bulbs would fail at the same time. It is better to work towards a diagnosis by checking the bulbs, testing for a supply and a good ground than replacing bulbs and hoping.

A little used hazard warning light switch is often the cause of sudden indicator failure or even partial failure. A couple of minutes of rapidly operating it on and off often put matters right.

Break lights and blinkers not working

If you put the tester on the outlets and it lights up properly but the bulbs dont, you have already concluded that the wiring isn't the problem. unless of course the wires are corroded and simply putting the bulb in shorts it out. Have you tested the bulbs?
