i would make sure that you have a good fuel filter. it sound funny but a plugged filter will make your jeep run rich and throw off the comp. and im sure you have checked the air filter. 5 mpg tells me you have a major problem that sould be easy to find like a bad fuel pressure regulator. this needs to checked.(just a simple rule test parts dont just replace them)

I have a jeep Wrangler 1989 2.5 (4C) and replaced the wires and plugs sue to the vehicle running rough at mid range.. this was to no avail I would like to check the firing order. Thank You

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. I changed my spark plug wires and possibly have them connected wrong. Is there a schematic that I might follow in order to ensure they are connected correctly?

Need ignition firing for 95 4 l. engine

1-5-3-6-2-4

ALL Jeep 4.0 motors use this firing order. Any year, any model, high output or not.

Also, the spark plug wire placement on the cap, in a clockwise direction from the post nearest the engine block is: 6-2-4-1-5-3. (to the left side of the number 6 post, there should be a hold down screw or strap for fastening the distributor cap to the distributor.

I want to install fire ring spark plug cables on a 97 jeep wrangler 97, 4.0. I want to know in what order the cables go

Replace each wire individually from plug to distributor one at a time and they will be in the right order. Or make yourself a diagram before you start, very carefully marking the first one you take off the distributor and where it came from and where it goes. Hope this helps..
