Go to a local garage and ask for a diagnostic check ( could cost between £30 and £50) and the diagnostic will pick up the fault on your vehicle

Intermittent check engine light

Have you checked it to see what error code it is throwing when it's on? It could be as simple as Gas cap not sealing properly to a oxygen sensor. I would put some good fuel injector cleaner in it and a tank of premium gas. Bad he's can also throw intermittent code

I have a 1996 mercury cougar. The fuel pump is not coming on (intermittently). The radiator fan ( which hadn't worked till the fuel pump problems) comes on and stays on whenever the fuel pump isn't...

your fuel pump is almost out ...go get a new pump and save this headache ,,trust me I learn new things daily as a mechanic with all of the new things they come up with also run 1 can of sea foam to 1 tank of gas ,,your tail pipe will smoke for about 30 minutes ,,it is blowing carbons out of your engine and you will get super gas mileage

Intermittent Evap Leak

weak power /or poor ground to evap control relay (wiring) common.. also if purge valve stuck open it will not leak externally but let fuel vapors pass back and forth flagging codes..(which it won't due when tank is more full and vapors travel only one direction as designed) good luck

'05 ford escape - car won't start if fuel below 1/4 tank

Not sure about P0195, but P093 is for a problem with the fuel rail pressure sensor. The sensor could be faulty or it could be accurate when the fuel system is empty.
Your sending unit for the fuel gauge could be off. Can you check the amount of fuel it takes to fill the tank when the gauge reads half ? If the gauge is right it should take half of the capacity of the tank to fill it up.

Check engine llight stays on the mechanics can't find anything wrong this started when i fill up my gas tank each time it is worse with stalling effects

If the check engine light is on, there has to be a trouble code in the on board computer. If the light only comes on when you fill your tank, then the problem is intermittent and the mechanic would need to scan the computer while the light is on. This could be the reason they can't find anything wrong. If the light is on when they scan the computer, they must have recovered a trouble code. If there is no trouble code to be found, then the mechanics will need to fall back on their ability to diagnose a problem without the use of electronic crutches. If they cannot, or will not, put forth the effort to solve your problem without the help of the computer codes, then I would suggest you seek the advice of a "real" mechanic. The problem seems to be fuel related, so the first place I would look is the fuel pump with it's integrated fuel filter. Not a cheap repair, especially if it is not the root cause of the problem. You did not say what, if any, tests the mechanics have done. They need to check for sufficient fuel pressure at the injectors. If the fuel pressure is not up to the recommended levels, then go ahead and have the fuel pump and filter assembly replaced.

2000 buick century custom. fuel gauge fluctuates between empty and 1/2 when level falls below 1/2 tank. low fuel light works. problem sending unit (how hard to change), gauge, or other?

The sender unit has a fine resistance wire with a slider to read the level, the slider or wires are worn and making intermittent contact, the low fuel light is a seperate switch so it will still work.access to the sender is usually under the rear seat cushon, under the soundproofing and a cover, have a look and describe what you have .

Intermitantly stalls

Check fuel filter, blow back through fuel lines to tank, check lines for blockage, leaks or cracks, drain and flush fuel tank.
Make sure air intake is free from leaks or blockage, filter is clean and correctly fitted
Check fuel pump connections, try to hear if pump operates by turning on ignition (without starting engine), pump should operate for a few seconds until pressurised then cut out, any longer indicates worn or leaking pump, lines or connectors, especially if done over 300000km.
Otherwise check earths from engine to chassis, also EMS fittings for corosion, or have unit tested.

I have a 2002 Ford Taures and the gas gage goes on empty intermittantly. Then the check engine light goes on. I have flex fuel and don't know how to trouble shoot the problem I can restart the car and most...

i know that if the gas cap is loose then the check engine light will come on. as far as the fuel gauge going up and down the "float" you have in your tank could be getting stuck. This is a pain in the rear to change because you will have to drop the fuel tank and either replace the part connected (best bet) to it or make sure the passage is clear.
