Question about 2002 Buick Century

Fan Repair My inside air fan's first two postions don't work. What is the part called that is behind the glove box that I need to replace to fix this. Also, my power window on the driver's side does has a mind of its own. It will lower when you start the car and doesn't always work. What is the master switch called and how do I take the door apart to change it. Brian Kreis

On your "inside air fan" problem, sounds like your blower motor resistor is going bad. That's the most likely part to wear out first. These are normally under your hood near the blower motor itself. Although, since your car is newer, the position of the resistor maybe different.

As of the power window, sounds like the window switch is going bad. I do not know enough about this car to tell you how to remove face plate. Normally they do just pop out though. Please don't quote me on that since, I don't know that much about this vechile.

My car a/c or heat is not working

If you can hear the fan run but no air comes out of the vents, you may have a blend door problem or a dirty cabin air filter if you car has one.
You would need to check the blend door to see if it moves - it should be behind the glove box. You may need a repair manual to fix it.

There is a grinding noise behind min glove box when my ac fan or heat fan runs. I use to only do it in the morning when it was cold but is now doing it often even when its not cold. Does the fan behind...

Yes, it is likely a loose mount or a bad bearing. This can be expensive and depends on model. Sometime it is not easy to get to without removing the whole dash board. If it is still blowing cold/warm air as needed and is only loud, then you can either elect to fix it or just turn your radio louder to help you ignore the fan noise. It is not breaking anything else by making some noise. It will just get worse until it stops working.

It is not the type if issue that will leave you stranded. It is only going to leave you hot (or cold) until you drive it to a repair shop. Dealers are way to expensive for this. Find a local shop to do this type of work when you finally need it.

Hi, I have a 2007 suzuki grand vitara and recently the blower stop working now i have no air or heat. help!!

Look first for the fuse of the blower unit in the main fuse box. replace, if this blows off again the blower fan is faulty.
However if the fuse is intact then you must check the blower switch on the dash for poor contact.
replace as required.

2003 Chrysler T&C - AC is cold, but no fan. I thought I'd see if this was a DIY issue, or if I need a pro-mechanic. And if I need a pro, at least I would know more about the issue before being fed to...

Sounds like you need a blower motor resistor. It's actually bolted to the air duct behind your dash glove box with 2 hex screws. It's a black case with an aluminum heatsink protruding from it, and has 2 wire plugs coming from it. The easy fix is to replace it for about $85. The cheaper, but more difficult fix is to replace the chip called a mosfet on the circuit board inside the black case. It's located next to the heatsink and is held tightly to the heatsink by a metal clip. The chip itself costs $1.99 (at www.mouser.com , part number 511-STP85NF55). Solder the new mosfet to the circuitboard, re-attach the metal clip & black casing, and assemble back in behind the glove box & plug the wires back in. Worked for me!

Fan doesnt work in low speeds

The resistor is blown , just behind the glove box is a spot where one bolt is showing , looks like a open square cut out the screw holds it inside the cut out , remove the bolt swap out the resistor , but make sure you slide the resistor back inside the open slot , that slot helps keep the resistor from over heating , easy fix may be 10 minutes tops , ebay has the resistor , buy 2 i am on my second one in 5 years

Sounds like a plugged evaporator core. The blower motor in located under the dash on the passenger side, behind the glove box. Some models have a trim molding which will unbolt for access. Once you have removed the blower motor, look inside the duct work and see if dirt, paper, ect has plugged the evaporator core. Sometimes a small vacuum cleaner will be able to **** out the debris.

Air condition fan switch works only in postions 3 and 4.

Sometimes these resistors are located under the passenger side dash under or behind the glove box, the resistor is located on the side of the heater box if the heater box can be found.

Inside fan has just stopped working

It could mean a new fan,but most systemes use a blower motor resistor to control the speeds of the fan which could have died and is lockated in the air box for climait control.
