Thanks, bunnydawg for the quick reply!!!! I live in Costa Rica, when I took my car to the my mechanic, to replace a shuttering clutch, he said no problem. But after five days the job is not finished. He is and has been great on repairs on all kinds of cars new and used..I just want to know is there unusual problems working on this model Chevy, especially the clutch..And suggestions..Thanks Arzinia

A cavalier from 82-2002 is one of the easiest to replace clutches out of any FWD car. The entire job will not take more than 8 hours in and out. The transmisson should be out and laying on the ground in 3 hours tops.

My clutch pedal is very loose and can't seem to change gears, pls help

If light pressure on your clutch pedal causes it to fall or easily be pushed to the floor and you cannot feel a normal point in which the clutch should engage it is quite possibly the slave cylinder. Most mechanic shops will tell you to replace the clutch and while doing the service they will replace the slave cylinder. Do you see or smell any brake fluid leaking? Brake fluid is used in the clutch hydraulic system. So if your brake fluid is low or you can see it leaking or smell it burning this would Point towards slave cylinder. There are other ways to check if your slave cylinder is working appropriately by looking under the vehicle having the clutch pedal pushed and seeing if the cylinder is engaging the transmission and then feeling for resistance.

Hi. I have a 2003 Ford Taurus that has a problem with the AC Clutch. There was a pretty nasty noise coming from my AC compressor, even when I wasn't using the AC. I took it in and the mechanic seemed

Yes in most of these instenses you can replace just the clutch assy. advance auto parts does offer it sepperatly. and they wont have to even open any lines. it just requires a special puller kit.

I took my 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer to a local A/C shop , the mechanic told me the clutch will not engage unless we hit it while the engine and AC unit are both turned on.

On The Lancer 2.0L 98% Cases I ve had on this vehicle Was Resolved By Replacing The Field Coil On the Ac Compressor $98 only available online..
Or Thru Mitsubishi A Clutch Kit Replacement Would be Ideal But It Cost the same as a new compressor.. just be easy with ur current parts and replace the Magnetic Field Coil

The clutch on a 93 Geo Tracker is burning can I use a clutch kit to repair it or might there be a bigger problem

yes that is exactly what it is replacing your clutch will ultimately solve your issue. also make sure the kit comes with a new clutch plate, throw out bearing, pressure plate, and gear tool. and look up the torque specifications for your pressure plate to flywheel screws before putting them back in.

I took my 2006 pt cruiser / standard transmission in due to stick would no longer shift into gear. Mechanic says transmission issue sent to shop down the street that works on transmissions. 1800.00 later...

not really your problem
this is the result of faulty workmanship by the first" mechanic" you took it to so he is responsible to get your vehicle back to you better than it was when he got it
That is the whole purpose of the big bucks that you paid
In realty , the clutch was the problem and the transmission repair was probably not necessary
talk with the mechanic and if he gets upset , contact a lawyer

95 legacy awd with a slipping clutch

yes the problem is that the pressure plates is getting weak and doesnt keep enuf pressure on the clutch. ive replaced clutch sets on many diff vehicles and when they act like u decribe its usually the pressure plate. replace entire clutch kit and if u decent mechanically u should be able to do it. in a clutch kit they give u a diagram and directions. keep a very good note on what parts u took off where to ensure u put them back in the right place

Clutch on a 1994 mazda b 2300

you need to find a shop then, most shops will not install customers parts, or if they do, no warranty, what so ever. you should, also at this time replace the clutch master cylinder. If you try this yourself I'm afarid you may either 1.hurt yourself,$$$ 2 break something$$$, 3 not get it together right and damage something $$$$$ 4.damage it and be without a truck for a week $$$ having it repiared properly will seem like a bargain if anything happens.
