Killing problem on 1999 bonneville

Have a problem with my 1999 bonneville. once it warms up, it tends to want to kill upon stopping or making a turn. it will also give me an occasional **** motion while running steady, it will start right back up with no problem. i've change the fuel pump and filter and also the plugs. (i find that if i put it in nuetral as i'm coming to a stop it tends not to kill.)

The car starts promptly. While braking the vehicle cuts off intermittently. It will restart promptly and run again no problem. It is not consistent so it is difficult to diagnose.

Well it seems to be an transmission problem. when you have it under load(in gear) there seems to be resistance that stalls the motor. the engine speed sensor sends a signal to the ecm(engine control module) this in turn sends a signal to the trans control module. from there the signal goes to a solenoid inside the trans the shifts the gears. somewhere in that circuit is the problem. you need to take it to a shop and have a scan done, this will isolate the problem. please rate this ..thanks

Power steering noise

It could be a loose engine belt, you could be low on power steering fluid or your pump could be going bad. If 1 and 2 check out then you probably need a new pump.

Motion sensor light

Some lights have the ability to be controlled on manual or automatic depending on the number of times that the switch for the light is switched on and off.You may need to kill the power then allow it to go thru its warm up routine again(When it tests itself prior to operation.when initially powered up)Sometimes tripping the breaker and then turning back the power on can remedy the problem.

If the light is controlled by a photocell(a device that stops it switching on until its dark) then it could be that which is faulty as they tend to stay powered up when they fail so people can still see in the dark.

When at a stop light sometimes my firebird, which is a manual tranmission, revs up to 2200 rpms. fuel mileage had gone from 23 miles per gallon to around 9 or 10. help please its killing me!

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

I strongly suggest that you have the IACV (idle air control valve) replaced. If the IACV is worn out it tends to make the rpm high or low. High rpm will surely result to unusual fuel consumption. Once replaced I believe you'll be good.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
