If it restarts then clean the throttle valve and the idle speed control valve, they get full of gunk and cause a slow idle and stall, more stalling when AC is on.

I have a tapping noise in my 2005 neon it just startaed

check the oil make sure its full. change the oil with recommended grade oil and the filter. if this doesn't fix the issue have the oil pressure checked. neon are known to have bearing issues that cause low oil pressure and a tapping noise because the lifters are not getting enough oil. some will have the oil light flicker when engine is idle in gear. another cause for a tapping would be the belt tentioner

2005 dodge neon hesitates when you are driving and jerks as if its starving of gas sounds like it want to bog down but you release the gas pedal it idles normally and it takes like 5 seconds or more to get...

Sounds like low fuel pressure. You need to have the fuel pressure tested. Low pressure could be a clogged filter or a weak or failing pump.
Is your air filter in good shape-not clogged with dirt?

2005 dodge neon idle.

Get the code. Codes never tell you to change a sensor, they just indicate the problem circuit they are seeing. Only sometimes it is a failure of the sensor.
You probably need test equipment like a digital voltmeter. Maybe join a neon forum to find out how others solved the problem.

2005 dodge neon - revs high in park nuetral and tough to push break pedal down. mechanic doesn't know what it is. Anyone have this problem resolved before? Thanks

sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak. When you lose vacuum the brake booster doesn't operate right. You need to go too a different mechanic. Could be the idle selonoid staying open or even a bad brake booster or vacuum hose came off.

The idle on my 2005 trailblazer is low , and the vehicle shuts-down whenever I turn on the ac.

You vehicle has an idle air solenoid that increases engine speed under a load at idle , they get carbon build up and stop working, some can be cleaned some have to be replaced, ck with your local mechanic, he may just clean it!

96 Neon idles a little too low it shuts off

This sound as if it may be the IAC or idle air control valve which is located just behind where the air intake hose attaches to the throttle body. This is a switch that tells the computer how fast the car should idle and adjust the air intake to keep the idle steady. If you go to one of the car part websites you can look up the IAC and see what it looks like for your particular vehicle. Autozone, Checker, Oreiley all have websites.

My check engine light is on and my car is jerking at an idle and when I have a heavy foot on the accelerator. It seems to run fine when I'm at freeway speeds.

I would suggest that u change the fuel filter if u have not done so already. This is normally the problem. Cant gaurentee a sure fix but mabey it will help.

Shut down

try this.
Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
