Can you take radio out of one cadillac srx and install in different seria number srx

the radio anti theft comes into play when you disconnect the power supply for the radio. If you want to put it back into the vehicle you took it out of you will still have to enter the anti theft code to get it to work. The anti theft works for the radio and not the vehicles.

Changed car battery and radio-code will not work to get radio back on. It's worked in the past. Any suggestions?

Hi Diane:
You will need to visit the Honda dealer to obtain it; the radio unlock code is unique for each VIN vehicle, so no one can be offered via Internet.

Simply present the vehicle's VIN to get it; sometimes you have to make any payment to the dealer to request this information.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

After picking up my 2007 Honda Odyssey from a body repair shop, I noticed when I turned on the stereo a "code X" on the display. Then when I clicked it again there were two XX. Can you tell me...

Many late model vehicles are equipped with "Theft Proof" radios. Quite simply, whenever battery power is removed from the radio ( battery disconnected, dead battery, etc...) the radio locks you out so you cannot turn it on unless you enter a 4 or 5 digit re-activation code. This is suppose to thwart anyone who would want to steal your radio because it would be no use to them without the re-activation code. You should of receieved that radio code from your dealer or by the person you purchased the car from. Most people write it down somewhere in the vehicle, possibly the glove box door or in the back of the owners manual, or even in the trunk area. I suggest you search those places for the code. If you cannot find it, the dealer will supply it to you as long as you can prove you are the legal owner of the vehicle. Just so you know, more times than not, there is a fee charged for that service. For future reference, there are tiny 9 volt memory savers that push into the cars accy' receptacle (cigar lighter) to prevent this from happening. Your body shop should of used one, I do. Good luck.

I have a 1999 chrysler cirrus and i jump started it and it started right up but when i turned the car off it wouldnt start again

took our kids 99 Cirrus to shop always had to jump the car. When mechanic was called he said he had traced a ground to under the fuse box.But now the car would not start or jump he said we need to reflash the computer. Took it to Chrysler dealer shop. They replaced distributor and computer 1300 dollars. They said it was fixed. Got the car back. Let it set for weekend. Tried to use it Monday morning would not start. Took the car back to dealership got a loaner vehicle. After a month dealership called and said the car had a bad battery. Now we had the kids replace the battery twice before we ever took it to the firsl shop. I think the car has a short draining down the battery and am considering a battery cut off switch to isolate the battery when not using the vehicle. Getting very discouraged and poor.

I pulled my ipod to car lighter hookup out of the car lighter today and the entire thing popped out. i put it back but now my radio won't turn on... at all. my antenna won't even go up. i don't know what i...

in some vehicles the 12 volt power plug in is on the same fuse as the radio or console, as for the antenna not going up that makes sense, the power for the power antenna is most likely supplied by the radio, no power to the radio no power to the antenna. good luck and I hope this helps.

Radio will not turn off. change chanels,.. stuck on AM station

Yes a most unusual problem, one too I have never come across.

On giving it some thought, possibly your old radio was substituted for a faulty unit, by and unscrupulous emploee at the Spanish retail shop ?

Look forward to receiving your thoughts.

Best wishes

2005 chevy impala ignition

on some GM cars you couldn't just replace the radio with an after market, because the radio is also part of the computer, controls the theft system and the door locks and much more, you have to buy an extra adapter that bypasses the old module, otherwise it will lock the car down, you should try to put the old unit back in and if the car starts up like it should, if it does you need to go to a larger radio shop and ask for the bypass module for the radio i think its like 60 or 70 dollars
