92 Olds Toronado - where is the ALDL connector located? trying to program new key fobs.

1996 Roadmaster

1. Locate the programming connector located in the LH trunk. Trim may have to be pulled back to access programming connector. ( Connector has black/white wires leading up to it and it is not connected to anything.)
2. Jump programming connector terminals. Leave terminals jumped unitl step 6.
3. System should now lock and unlock doors to indicate programming mode has been entered.
4. Press any button on keyless remote once. System should now lock and unlock doors, indicating successful programming of keyless remote.
5. Repeat step 4 for additional remote or other existing keyless remote. NOTE: A maximum of only two Keyless Remotes can be programmed.
   
6. Remove programming connector jumper wire to exit programming mode.
7. Test remote(s).

Only reprogram if you know it needs programming otherwise you are wasting your money. Take the key to a main dealer and ask them if the programming is still working as you are having trouble starting your car.

They should be able to tell you if it needs programming or not.

I'm not 100% positive about a 1992 Toronado, but on my 1986 Toronado the BCM is behind and to the upper left of the glove box, and the ECM is behind the right side kick panel in front of the door. GM had a habit of moving them around from year to year.

Are you're talking about the key Fob, which would go with your keyless entry system? All we're really getting is a short video showing your ALDL or diagnostic connector for onboard diagnostics.

Try with brand new key fob battery and see.If that helps.
Otherwise May be keyfob needs to be reprogrammed.

KEYFOB PROGRAMMING

Keyfob remote reprogramming is not very difficult but on some cases it can be done by dealer service tools.

If the remote s faulty then key fob will not get programmed.

Insert the key in ignition. Turn the key to on position, and cycle the key three times off-on-off-on-off-on. Then with the key fob remote select your remote and then try to operate the vehicle with remote.

These are just the basic procedure, but sometimes it will not help.

On that case dealer is the only option.

If you are talking about the Central Power Module, it is located under the dash to the left of the steering column. It is a small silver box, mounted vertically with a single black or gray rectangular connector.

you jump terminal G (purple and white wire) and terminal A (black and white wire) doors should lock and unlock then press any button on the key fob and the locks should lock and unlock and you are done take jumper out

Take it to A GM Dealer they Hook into the ALDL and Reprogram it By Way of a Scanner

it would be cheaper to replace the shocks with the same as you have on the car now. otherwise you have to have other things done to the car to make new different shocks workfor the car

Same car same problem, but I found the plug w/two wires behind the glove box. It is on a brace on the left hand side, has a clip holding it there. Lift up on the clip and it slides off.
I jumpered those two wires, the door locks did not cycle as was in the instructions and remote still doesn't work.
Sounds to me like I'm missing power from somewhere, but where?
