More than likely since the car sat for so long with fuel in it that it separated. There is water in fuel and when it sits for an extended amount of time it will rust in side the tank and get into your fuel lines and even your fuel pump. First thing you could do is by some fuel treatment and run it through. it should hopefully break up anything inside there that could be impeding the fuel from getting into the carb.
Also check the leads inside the distributor. when a car sits for that long the seals can dry out and allow moisture in, corroding them and not allowing a spark to enter the cylinder and ignite the fuel.
Just remember that a car needs only three things to run 1. Spark 2. Fuel 3. Air
If you have all of those then the car will should start. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Location of oil filter 1985 Fiero GT 6 cyl

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus I know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry

i.e. for lifetime.

I bought a 1985 fiero se 10 years ago...they had put a new clutch in it....i drove it home and noticed that there was something not quite right in the shifting...i readjusted the clutch/shift linkage and...

You are not getting fuel. EIther bad fuel pump or plugged fuel filter. No fuel pressure and it starts for a second with starting fluid, then there is no fuel being pumped to fuel lines.

87 fiero trunk key will turn but wont unlock the trunk. any way to open the trunk without destroying it ? thanks Jerry

I'm assuming you don't have the electric latch...Since the key is turning, the piece of metal that connects the lock with the latching mechanism probably came off on the other end. You are going to have to destroy the lock. You can do that without hurting the rest of the car though. Drill it out so you can remove the locks internal pieces and stick a long regular screw driver in and turn the latch. The Fiero Store sells new locks.

I have a 88 Fiero GT V6 that has sat for over a year without starting. I put in 5 gallons of gas, and used starting fluid. Starts, but only keeps running while fuel is poured into intake. I suspect water...

1) Running fuel pump to remove water from tank will likely not empty it all, but it might help. Will still be some liquid in bottom of tank.

2) More than likely, the gas has gummed up and is no good, While your draining of the tank will help, may still need to change the fuel filter and clean the injectors. The ability to keep engine running while pouring into the intake is a good sign, but mayfind that more parts need to be cleaned and replaced prior to solving the problem.
