Most volvos when timing belt breaks it does internal engine damage to the valves. sounds like this maybe your problem.

not sure on cost. have you tried a compression test on the cylinders yet?

  • M Trent Sep 10, 2008

no not just the gasket but the valves which are in the cylinder head that open and close to allow fuel in or exhaust out. could be as much as $1000 or more to repair. The only way to eleminate this possiblity is to do what we call a cylinder compression test to check for damage to the engine before taking the head off.

The mechanic replace the timing belt on my car but he cant start it. he recheck the timing alignment, spark, fuel delivery all seem fined per him and there is compression

Have someone else verify the timing belt alignment. If he did it wrong but he believes that he did it right, then he won't find the mistake.

Replaced timing belt and car won't run

You had better check the timing belt again, you may have done something wrong and it skipped teeth.

Tiburon timing belt broke, replaced, won't start

Did you make sure you set cam & crank timing ? If the belt is off one tooth it will cause this. Recheck belt timing first.
