I have a very similar problem. But it only does it randomly. Sometimes at idle, and sometimes when I am just starting to accelerate. It runs extremely rough, but when it get's it's RPM's up (about 2k+), it takes off and runs great. I checked the fuel pressure and it is great, even when it's acting up. Oh, and sometimes I have noticed that when I hit a bump in the road, it will act up.

Have you checked the spark plugs? Some times the spark can go on the out side of the plug instead of the through it. There will be a black burnt line on the porclen part of the plug, from the connection to the nut. new plugs and wires might be just what you need.

Thanks for the replies. I gutted the catalyctic converter and changed the 02 sensor at the same time. After starting the engine, it still had the symptoms and I drove it for about 5 minutes or so and after it warmed up it started to run great. It has been about a month now, and it has been running great. Actually, it did try to run rough once since but I just gunned the throttle and it cleared up and hasn't done it since. I am pretty confident that it is fixed now. Thanks again for the suggestions.

You might check to see if there is a leak in the fuel line from the gas tank.  If it was sucking air into the line, it could give you this symptom.

My 2005 ford f 250 superduty 6.0 gas light came on fulled up with diesel truck starter right up left parking lot then died will not start

every possibility that when the light came on you picked up air ( fuel momentarily was not around the pick up line as you went around a corner) and now there is air that needs to be bled out of the fuel system/ pump

Mazda astina 323 1991 hatchback cuts out turning right but only once half a tank of fuel is reached

Your pick up line in the gas tank either has a hole in it or is broken. This allows the fuel pump to suck in air and loose pressure. The M.A.P. sensor will then get a wrong readimg and cause the engine to die.. You will want to replace the fuel pump while you gas tank out and open.

My 1985 ford f250 diesel is messing up on me and it is giving me a major headache, okay i just got a brand new fuel pump, fuel filter, alternator, starter, two brand new batteries, the whole works on the...

No what it sounds like is you did not purge all the air out of the filter when you replaced it or you did not drain the housing properly and has water in it still.Water collects in the bottom of the seperator and when you change the filter it gets into the system.

1991 ford escort 1.9l will start cold but when i go get gas abd try to start it, it will have spark when turning over, but wont start and the fuel cut out ligt is on?

there is a start and run side to the ing modugle which is controled by the pick up coil in the dist i have seen this before. do you have fuel take a can off carb clean and the next time this happens spray a little carb clean in the inlet snorkle of the air filter housing, the fuel pump eneratia switch giving problems.

2000 F-250 7.3 diesel, cuts out runs rough no power

Well, you have to let diesels warm up before you drive them so the engine gets warm and it may not sound right at first because if its not warm the compression gets off and doesnt fire right. If you try to give it too much gas before its warm, extra diesel will get in the cylinders and misfire. Then when it does fire, there is a lot of extra fuel in it so that causes the smoke and smell. You should always let it warm up for a bit before driving when you havent driven it for a while.
