1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport with auto trans 6 cyl engine froze up, how to get it unfroze

TRY PULLING ALL THE SPARK PLUGS AND SPRAYING WD-40 INTO THE CYLINDERS LET IT SIT FOR AWHILE THEN PUT A WRENCH ON THE HARMONIC BALANCER BOLT AND ROCK IT BACK AND FORTH. YOU MAY NEED TO DO THIS A FEW TIMES AND WHEN FREE'D UP CHANGE OIL

i've seen transmission fluid used to free up motors. pour some into crankcase, roughly a court. wait several minutes then try turning it over again. oil will need to be changed once motor moves

I have '98 Polo that has been laid up for 6months.

Brakes wont rust over in 6 months. Sounds like the parking brake is stuck. Check the parking brake lever for slop and free play. If it goes up and down with no force the release catch is stuck. Use a flathead screw driver and manually trip the release. Hope this helps.

Transmission hard shifting

take it to a good trans shop and have them test drive it, they will do that for free, but based on what u say a fluid change will not help, the trans will need to come out for a rebuild.
