The short answer is anywhere above the shield. Look for darker (wet) trails on the front / back of the radiator (where possible) as a sign of a leak origin. Clamps between hoses and radiator openings, thermostat housings, soldered locations such as those around a filler neck, seam, etc. are also candidates for leak locations as well. Inspect the radiator cap too (when cold). Feel along the underside of hoses, support hardware, etc. that slope downward toward the radiator - as coolant may be running along the bottom side of the hose from a different leak origin location. Don't forget that the cooling system is under a small amount of pressure - so a wet spot on the radiator (or anywhere for that matter) could be the result of a stream of coolant that is squirting there - but coming from somewhere else. You could check this after running the engine to normal temperature and shutting it off - then look around for a stream squirting under the hood.
check all your hoses run vehicle for awhile the inspect hose in this area. look for obvious things next check at the engine to see if a freeze plug is leaking then inspect you heater assembly the core may be leaking I'm leaning toward a hose or shut off valve
Your heater core has developed a leak (of coolant). The smell is the "sweet" smell of ethylene glycol, a component of engine coolant. The white smoke is steam coming from the heated coolant evaporating. The coolant is dripping into your duct work under the dashboard, and apparently being evaporated out of the ductwork and sent into the passenger compartment, meaning its a small leak. When the leak gets worse, you may get wet carpet on the front passenger side.
Looks like bypass hose or engine coolant plug just got leak!
look at ur coolant reservoir, it might overflowing when ur engine heats up and its dripping towards the engine!
Look and search all the hoses in the side of the engine and reservoir!
If its the bypass hose, there will be a difficulty in removing and replacing it, but u could fix it!
Most of the time when I see coolant leaking at the rear/top of the 3400 engine, beneath the throttle plate area, it's usually coming from the intake gaskets. There is a coolant cross-over passage at the rear of both heads and as time passes the gasket will sometimes split along the sides of this passage and coolant will begin to leak out. It can be tough to see clearly whats going on in this area well enough to pinpoint the exact source of the leak so it may take a bit of time to find it. Often with an intake gasket leak the coolant will puddle on top of the block then drip down the rear side of the engine and drip off of the pan or transmission bell housing. Sounds like one of two things are happening. Either the hose going to the heater core (on the engine side of the dash) is leaking causing coolant to spray into the passenger compartment or your heater core is leaking which is causing the dripping from the passenger side of the dash. This would also cause a loss of coolant in the engine which would cause the engine to overheat and not enough coolant to get to the heater core to supply heat to the passenger compartment. Check your coolant level (while engine is cold) and refill it with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water after you tighten the leaking hose or replace the heater core.Then start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature. Again let it cool down and then top off the radiator with the 50/50 mix of coolant. Do not under any circumstances open the radiator cap while the engine is hot.
Stop the car as this sounds like a heater core leak which will eventually drain the water from the engine cooling system and sieze your engine
Try undoing the two hoses in the engine bay area going through the fire wall to the passenger side. Thes two hose can be blanked of or even joined to reseal the coolant within the engine untill yuo can have the leak repaired. Note check the coolant level when engine has cooled prior to trying this fix.Hope this helps
