Im doing a tune up on my car and have all the basix...I just heard about doing a valve adjustment...so how do u do it?.....also while doing spark plugs there was oil all over the old plugs and cables...my car though seem to be running better. So we will see. Also my Gear shaft gets stuck after starting my car and I have to put the Main Ignition Key in it to the right side of it to move it. How do I fix it and Why is it doing this?

On the first part, it sounds like you have a valve cover leak.
If you are going to adjust the valves, you will have to remove the cover to adjust them.
I would suggest picking up a repair manual for the proper procedure for adjusting the valves, and the clearances.

Please expalin the gear shift problem again.
It's slightly confusing.

Thanks

What is needed for a tune up?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. For a tune up, you would need to change spark plugs, coils, distributor cap, coil pack, and wires. You would change the air filter and the fuel filter also. Change your pcv valve as well. You can also change all your fluids and filters, such as oil, coolant fluid, and transmission fluid.

What does a major tune up for a 2004 chevy impala consist of? What should be done and needs to be done?

New spark plugs, oil and oil filter, transmission flush and fill, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush and fill, clean throttle body plate and bore, clean the MAF sensor, replace any loose or cracked vacuum lines, PCV valve, new air filter, new battery.

99% of the time all you should ever need for a tune up is new spark plugs, and a clean air filter and throttle body. But since your inquiry indicated "major" I gave it more critical thought.

What all do i need to change when doing a tune up for a chevy 2005 equniox

Just basically spark plugs and an air filter. The plugs don't need replacement until 100,000 miles. The fuel filter is located inside the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank and is not serviceable. It doesn't require a PCV valve and there are no adjustments available for the throttle body, idle or timing.

My car is not edling when i am at the stop sign.

idling problems can be many things, but do the basics, tune up, air filter, gas filter, remember the idle is computer set so you cannot adjust it, all you can do is make sure everything is good, like spark plugs, etc. When was the timing belt replaced ? another one that makes timing very off is a leaking valve cover gasket which allows oil into the spark plug tubes drowning the spark plugs causing rough idle, and again if you do a tune up you will discover the oil leak.

I want to know how much will it cost to get a tune-up?

There is no real tune up any more.
The main thing with a tune up was points, timing, and valve adjustment.
Now all you can do it change the spark plugs and filters.

Needs tune up what parts do i need

spark plugs, fuel filter pcv valve, spark plug wires higher quality, wd40 to lubricate all movable throttle parts, (cables) etc, on this car rotor or cap usually do not apply. make sure your spark plugs are gapped correctly and be careful not to drop them on the ground or get them dirty from oil debris around spark plug holes when installing new plugs. Your owners manual will give you maintainence information on suggested and required maintainence, if your miles are 40,000 or more since the last tuneup suggest you have the transmission oil and trans filter changed (new trans filter kit and silicone would be needed) Good Luck and I hope this was very helpful to you

What needs to be done at 100,000km service for Honda crv 1999

What I would do, if you haven't, yet is do a total tune up. Change the oil, oil filter, PCV valve, air filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires, timing belt, distributor, and recently I heard that adjusting the valves at that (100,000) point will also prolong the engines life, the timing belt and valve adjustments seem to be the hardest to do. This is what i did to my 1999 honda cr-v except the valve adjustment, Im not good enough to mess with that on my own. Doing it myself turned out pretty cheap, and easy, just time consuming. good luck!

I want todo a tune up myself

for a normal tune up, the only thing you can change are, fuel filter, oil filter and oil, cabin filters, transmission oil filter and trans oil, and spark plugs. The other (tune items) such as spark plug wires and points, and timing settings are either eliminated or non adjustable. If you have the equipment you can do a computer check, but if the truck is running well it probably won't tell you much.
