Quits running and engine light is now on!

Recently my car began quitting on me as I was driving down the street and or while preparing to stop at a light. I noticed it only when I was not applying pressure to the gas pedal. The car is so quiet, that when I press on the gas to get going again, I realize the vehicle is not running and have to quickly shift into neutral, start the engine and then put it back into drive. The engine light would come on and then once I got home, the next day it would be off. The light just started staying on full time yesterday. On a few occasions it has even bucked when I went to take off. The car has 55.000 and up until 2 weeks ago ran perfectly. Any suggestions.

Engine cranks, runs for 1 or 2 seconds and then stops.

Two items to check. The crankshaft sensor will reduce fuel pump pressure if it miscounts the RPM. The plastic strainer in the fuel tank can break apart and clog the pump intake in the tank. When the engine quits, the fuel pump is stopped and the loose particles are returned to the tank bottom.

In either case, try checking the fuel pressure at the test tap on the fuelrail.

I had a routine tire rotation and car alignment on yesterday. As I drove my car later in the evening, the vsc/ecm dash light came on, followed by the brake and battery light, radio and dash lamp lights...

Sounds like you lost the charge from the alternator.
When the alternator quits charging your battery light comes on and your car will run on battery power only...and only for a short time.
As the battery gets its stored energy used up...everything that is electrical will get slow or dim.

I'd check your alternator for proper operation and its drive belt...

Hope this helps...

While running down the street the ac works great. When I stop for a stop light the ac quits working and blows warm air. When the light turns green and I start moving again the ac works great.

two things are possible here. is the a/c fan working or not. this would mean you are not getting the cooling while setting still but are while moving. also you could be low on freon charge and this will happen. if this helps please reply and good luck

2004 ford f350diesle hard starting depress throtle nothing there

Dear dsmalley427,
I think it sounds like a fuel injection problem. You get fuel for a while until the injector backs up and then all of a sudden NO FUEL. The engine quits and the pressure drops and flow returns enough for you to restart. If I were you I would get to a good mechanic and check the fuel injectors.
OR--try adding a fuel additive that would clean the injectors.--Signed jwr

Engine cuts out, console lights up

It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged. Try changing it.
