Check your connections at the wiring harness going to headlights for corrosion, sounds like high resistance somewhere, also make sure your ground wires are secure. It wouldn't be the alternator or the battery would be dead and not start the engine. Also shouldn't be any condensation in your head light assembly's or will cause bulbs to blow prematurely.

I don't know if its a sensor problem or not. Battery died a few days ago, replaced it. Next day when driving, whenever I would stop or come to a stop, it would idle really low and die. Replaced the...

I know two things that could cause that:
1) Alternator Belt, thats if its weak, or about to break. Can even cause the check engine light appear.
2) The sensor is getting weak. Try to check on it also since it might not be supplying enough fuel for combustion..

I just replaced my Alternator and the next day my check engine light came on and went off in about 10 minutes. Now, it is staying on in my 1994 Lexuse GS 300, any ideas???

Hi:
I don't think changing your alternator caused the check engine light to come on, but you need to have your car scanned to see what did trip the check engine light. There are hundreds of reasons for it, and a good thing to try is to go to a local auto parts store, such as Autozone, and have them scan your car's code for free. They will tell you what the code is, and what possibly caused it, if possible. That way you can be better educated as to what needs fixed!

I have an issue with a 98 ford contour v6. all the lights pulse when the alternator is charging above idle. alt has been replaced.checked the fuse at rear of engine.any ideas about this problem.

This is usually caused by a failing regulator within the alternator, however, it would be a good idea to also check all engine to chassis grounding straps. Thank you.

Hmm, have you gotten any 'Check engine' light? It could possibly be the alternator/battery? Have you had them checked? Check the voltage of the battery when the car is not running, then check it while it is running. Or bring it elsewhere to get it checked? I recently had a problem similar to this, with a Van. The alternator was intermittent so it would work and then not sometimes, and just die. It was because the alternator would charge the battery sometimes and then sometimes it didn't and thus slowly wearing down the battery until it died and then after awhile it worked fine again after sitting of course.

Transmission problems

your overdrive solenoid inside the transmission is the fault. it could be sticking or flat out not working. just have them replace that solenoid, if that won't do the trick then it's a faulty transmission control module....please rate this
