Did you get any directions w/ brake controller? On Some vehicles you can't connect wires of the same color from vehicle to controller, they use a different color code for the wires, so it may be a wire connected improperly, even though all the colors match. countrycurt0

I have a mazda tribute 2006. The brake lights are not lighting up when I step on the pedal. The top rear light works, al other lights work. We changed the bulbs and the fuses. What else could it be?

By top rear lights you are referring to the high mount stop light on the top of the rear hatch yes? If so and that brake light is operating then you can rule out the 15 amp F6 fuse in the smart junction block in center console as well as the brake switch being the problem. If either of the fuse or switch was faulty then that one brake light would not light up either. Ground point for the lower brake light bulbs is shared with the rear turn and tail light bulbs so if those are also operating then your ground is probably good as well. Power to the brake lights is provided directly by the smart junction block. Has a trailer tow harness been installed on the vehicle recently? If so and extra bulbs were added to the brake light system for the trailer it is very possible that the Smart Junction Box has been damaged due to the increased amperage draw thru the circuit. The non tow package Tribute was not designed to have tow added by U-Haul or other system.

I have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee Laredo limited 5.9. I am trying to get the tow package electrical to work, but it doesn't seam to get any power to the plug in at the trailer hitch. I have checked

sure, why not look that up in the FSM.?
why not say which function fails.
park, turns, brake? backup (all 4?) (check ground #5)
after market wire job or factory tow package?
we cant guess any of that.

you can see all the orig. wiring here.
ZJ, click that and 8w wiring chapter.
and see it all, every inch of wire in car."STOCK"
stock means, as it left the factory Day 1.

I looked and didnt see a tow option in the FSM. 1998.
but didnt read every page.

NO REAR OR BRAKE LIGHTS BUT ALL BULBS AND FUSES SEEM OK.

check the Switch under the dash on the brake peddle . it could be stuck or broken get a a wire tie the lights together test for continuity at that switch. check your trailer light hook ups for shorts. If you have a braking power module for towing you may have to replace it or check and make sure it is getting juice.

What is a tbc fault on a 2006 ford f350 6.0

That is your trailer brake controller that is built into your dash. If you are hooked up to a trailer it could mean you are losing your connection or ground to the trailer. If you are not connected to a trailer it means there is a problem with your brake controller possibly a short in the wiring caising the fault code.

No brake lights blows fuse every time

there is most likely a short in the wires have you put a tow package on it if so did you splice in to the lines check all wires and see if they are burnt any were most likely short
