Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck

Transmission not upshifting

I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 with a cummins that does not want to upshift normally. Have to accelerate before it will upshift from 1st. to 2nd. Does not do it all the time, usually when it warms up to operating temperature.

    my dodge 2500 diesel 2001 model goes into all gears fine....except when upshifting from 1st to 2nd my rmps just go up all the way to the rev limter unless i let off the throttle then i let it go back down to normal bour 1500 rpms and drive it easy then it will shift....wat would my problem be??

Mine was doing that and it was the TPS cable was out of adjustment. loosen it one or two slots and try it.

As for the engine, try replacing the fuel pressure regulator. If it accelerates good but when you decelerate it dies, it's the FPR.

you have bad transmission mounts, they are a bit difficult ot replace on that model of Buick as the front mount is in a tight area that requires the engine to be lifted up, out of the engine cradle.

Honda passport 2002 have 2 bottons near transmission shift power and winter. What do they do?


Winter mode - Starts in 3rd gear to reduce slippage on ice or snow
Power mode has a delayed upshift when more powerful acceleration is required

I have a 2007 Dodge 2500 cummins with 108000 miles on it when it shifts from first too second it will redline before it shifts and then sometimes you have to let off the gas too get it too shift and it...


MOST DODGES (NOT THE MOTOR BUT THE TRANS HAS A SHIFT SOLINOID IN THE TRANS
THIS PART IS ABOVE THE VALVE BODY OF THE TRANS SO IT IS NOT EASY TO REMOVE
BUT YOU CAN DO IT WITH OUT DROP[ING THE TRANSMISSION YOU WILL IN MOST CASES HAVE TO REPLACE THE VALVE BODY GASKET
THE SOLINOID IS ABOVE THE VALVE BODY ...
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE IT ONCE YOU REMOVE THE VALVE BODY REPLACE THE SOLINOID SHOULD HELP WITH YOU SHIFTING PROBLEM

1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD, Transmassion will not up shift.


Sounds like a problem i had on my 96. but, check the muffler.If the KAT converter is pluged , it wont shift into 3rd, at 45mph. Witch the OBD and 3 techs couldnt find.This unit only cost me $100.00.Better than 2 grand. Let me know.
