Question about 1996 Ford Taurus
The blue smoke is an idicator of burning oil. this could be either bad valve seals or bad oil rings on the piston. with the loss of power and the ratteling noise nit would seem that you have a valve issue in the heads. now either the valves are not seating properly or or the lobes on the cam itself is worn and what you are hearing is the rocker arms slaping. Considering the age of the vehicle you have the option of either having the engine rebulit(that's if the blue smoke is from bad rings) or if you just have the top end done, there will be a substantial cost. or you can get rid of it. please rate this
