Question about 2002 Honda Odyssey

3 Answers

I have no idea what the radio code for my 93 honda accord ex is. Ive only had the car a few months. No paperwork came with it. All the dealerships are saying to bring in the car, and they can pull out the radio for like 75 bucks to get the serial number. If the radio is the origional that came with the car, why cant I get this information from only the VIN. Thanks for your time..

Usually Honda has a radio code in the glove compartment on the side. Look for it and feed it in after turning the power and wait for few seconds, hope you are able to find and it works.

Try Pressing and holding radio preset station buttons 1 & 6 while you turn the radio on, that should at least give you the radio serial number, which is what you need to get the code. If this doesn't work you will need to pull the radio out and get the serial number, in any event you need that number to get the code.

The problem is the same as I have with my '01 VW. The radio self locks on power loss and the correct code must be entered on power-on. It's a theft deterrent idea that does work. So well in fact that without knowing the code, you're almost out of luck.

Now, each radio has a different serial number, and the code is listed by the radio's actual serial number. The VIN cannot tell you exactly which radio went into that car, so getting the code isn't really possible by just the VIN number. The best idea for you, pull the radio yourself (if you're able) then talk to the dealer with the actual serial number for the radio. Then can then look into the records for that radio on get the code for you. :) I hope this helps bud!

1998 honda accord automatic....when i change from

Make sure you report the problem to the National Highway Transportation Safety agency (www.nhtsa.gov). Also-research the web and you will find hundred similar complaints and a successful class action lawsuit in California against Honda for 1999-2001 Accord transmissions that showed the same malfunction code. The California settlement required Honda to repair transmissions and extend warranties up to 109,000 miles and 93 months.

These Transmissions are hard to FIX...I found very few rebuilders that can pull it off... They were recalled in 2000 ....sorry but it is no easy fix... the ONLY OTHER CLUNKING could be a problem is : your motor mounts are vacuum assisted meaning if you have a vacuum leak they will not stiffen the mounts correctly.... it sound crazy but look underneath you have small 5/16 vacuum lines near the radiator mount and some have it ont he firewall mount... I drive 99 Ex Accord!!!! rebuilt tranny 2 times !!!! make sure you get a warranty if you do...2000-2400 is a good cost....

Sadly:
There is only 2 options.
1. Your radio code is in your paperwork for your car (Its on a hard plastic card) Find it.
2. Take your registration to Vin and Ser Number for your radio to your local dealer.
These codes are a guarded secret and no one code fits all.
Hope this tip helps guide you in the correct direction to solve this problem.
