Question about 1993 Geo Storm

2 Answers

Lost Keys We have recently lost our only set of keys to a 1993 Geo Storm. We called the dealer and they have two w/ notch and one without? They put in the info of the car and those two came up. Both cost $75 each. Basically we have to buy both in order to know which one it is. We are not allowed to return one of them, should it not be the key. What in the world is a notch key and why are there two sets? Can anyone help with this matter? We're lost here.

The lock can come from many different vendors, this kind of issue is very common on all cars whom ever makes them, I would buy one set and try it, you have a 50% chance they will be correct, another thing to do is call other dealers and ask if they know which key is more common, give them the part numbers of both not the notch info.

Your best bet is to remove your passengers side door lock take it to your local LOCKSMITH and let them cut you a key should cost you around $15 dollars. It is really quite easy to remove the lock.

The answer to your question is the notch key has a stop on the shoulder and will only allow the key to go in so far, the other key is smooth like a toyota key with no stop

Hi there, I have a Daihatsu Terios 4x4 2009 model. Both sets of keys have been lost, i.e.: original and spare. I have got two new keys from a dealer (blanks) and they have been cut and fit into the...

The dealer has to program the keys.. or program the car to the keys rather. Dont really understand why they tell you you need the original ones for because you dont. God to another Daihatsu dealer.

My sister broke her only key for her 93 geo storm

I believe that the Geo is made/ sold by Chevy, they should be able to cut a new key. if not then try contacting the local car rental companies, (Alamo, National, etc.) as that they can, (sometimes!), make new keys from the VIN numbers. (I used to work for some of them!) good luck!

How to set the timeing on 91 geo storm

The timing marks are located near the top of the crankshaft pulley on the plastic timing belt cover. There is a notch in the pulley to mark TDC (Top Dead Center)
Align the notch with the 0 mark on the plastic cover to set your base timing.
Ground the proper circuit on the ALDL connecter located under the dashboard somewhere under the steering wheel. Check the manual for the proper circuit to ground.
With the engine warm and the circuit grounded. Set the proper timing. Un-ground the circuit and you are done.
