Hi
I have owned a Lancer 1800 gti since 1992. Last week it did'nt want to start without a lot of throtel which eventually, after a lot of misfiring and clicking from the relay mounted forward of the gearstick would smooth out and run normally. After getting home and restarting the car next day the situation got worse until it would not start at all. There are no sparks at the plugs and no smell of fuel. I subed the relay without success

dealer only i think ,these cars have a mini computer behind the dash and in common with a lot of cars if the battery goes slowly down then brown out will occur ,i do a lot for the airport parking and cars left without batteries disconnected because the shunt drivers are in a rush or dont like getting dirty hands then this gives me aggro when i have to sort them out .Last week or so a jaguar with immobilisor coming on ,,,easy fic but a BMW X5 ?new computer and dealer only ,citreon C4 same problem new everything from transponder to computer and reprogram the the lot cost over a 1000euros the BMW was 2500euros .
The light has likely burned out. I doubt if someone removed the bulb. Have that checked before hitting the panic button! Any car with computer controls has a light.
As far as i know, original stock carburetor for Lancer 1989-1992 engine 4G15 12 valve is Aisan Variable Venturi. It have 3 screws : - air-fuel mixture screw - main jet adjusting screw - idle adjusting screw

before anything i had the problem and this is the way i solved it ... the lancer has 2 ignition coils in 2 cylinders what you do is take the iginition coil out of the cylinder that is misfiring and change it to another cylinder and put the car on the odb reader again it should change location of misfire .. then that would tell you that its the ignition coil thats bad i ended up getting my coil at the dealer for $110 ebay has some aftermarket pairs for $100 so you can get 2 now for the price i paid for 1 that will solve the problem guaranteed owne d a lancer for 5 years know the ups and downs to them
Hi it sounds like your high pressure pump needs replacing. the pump can be repaired but you will have to find someone who knows about it, i fix a lot of them before. there is a spring that pushes out the piston in the pump so it can compress the fuel that spring losses its ability to extract the piston back out. i have pictures of one if anyone wants to see
If it is hydrogen sulphide it could be coming from an overcharging battery, but in view of the misfire it sounds more like an over-rich fuel mixture could be fouling up your catalytic converter. Best course of action is to get a proper diagnosis at your garage or if you are technically minded you can buy a cheap interface cable and download free VAG diagnostic software and then do it yourself.
Hope this helps! D.
Do you have fuel pressure?
