Question about 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
It has a 3.8 v6. when I crank it to start, it starts then dies. I start it again and it stays running fine. I turned a corner today and it completely died on my. Started back up fine. when sitting in park sometimes the rpms are moving around a bit. It has also stalled sitting in traffic. Ive replaced the spark plugs, wires and fuel filter and its still doing the same thing. My wife said when she started it one day last week that smoke came out from under the hood, but drove it fine with no more smoke after starting ! Can you give me any advice on what this could be. The catalatic converter was replaced 2 years ago, could it be that again ? A sensor ? Hopefully something simple? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My car was doing the same thing. It would stall out while idling or even turning a corner. I ended up replacing a few sensors but the problem was the fuel injector pressure regulator. The check engine light never came on. It was leaking fuel through the vacuum side of the diaphragm. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and if there are any traces of gasoline it needs to be replaced.
