1997 MAZADA PROTEGE -REBULIT TRANSMISSION AROUND 2004
Two codes, P0705 and P0302. I believe I may need a tune-up. Had one within the last 9 months. Shop stated tune-up was done, not sure how well the tune-up was done. Also, what price range am I looking at in order to have repairs done. Or exactly what my problems are?

Well you have a misfire on #2 cylinder (po302). possible bad coil or wire. hard to estimate cost without diagnosing first.po 705 is transmission range circuit. possible bad prndl switch or out of adjustment. Again would need further diagnosis to estimate.

It sounds like your clutch is loose, if you do it yourself you will need to buy a new clutch assembly with might run you $200. If you take to a shop it might cost as much as $600. If you are going to do it yourself be sure to have a good Chiltons Auto Manual handy, they run about $20,
This sounds like an ignition module has failed for that one cylinder,i dont know why the transmission code p0705 has to do with the firing of the coils. Check the plug wire first, or just replace with a known good wire, and the plug as well! If this is a no fix ,you may be able to have the module tested at a parts jobber, and you should get a price quote as well. Then you need to locate the module,it may be under the coil pack.
Just because your Check Engine light came on doesn't mean there's something wrong at all. Various Mechanical functions are timed by the Manufacture to signify Servicing required.
Sometimes they're set at 50K miles or more, when the light starts going on, all you have to do is take it to an Authorized Service Shop and they Reset the timer. Most places won't even charge you for doing it unless they find something wrong.
I'm seeing a lot of 1994 Mazda Protege problems so if you do replace it I would recommend a new trans and not a rebuilt or junk yard trans. Most car repair shops use Jasper Transmissions most likely because they build them better than the original!
