    The problem has been fixed.

First check your coolant level as this could be part of the problem. If coolant level is ok could be possible problem with Idle control valve. Hope this helps out.

First clean the fast idling valve, if that does not fix it, second there may be a vacuum leak

Idles fast problem

That would be your engine "choke" functioning. It's not a problem. The choke engages when engine is cold and shoots extra fuel to the cylinders to idle the engine up especially in cold with. Once the engine has sufficiently warmed up, the engine will idle back down.

After cleaning the throttle body it looks to be stuck and RPM remain above 2000 when idling. Engine accelerates and decelerates going back to idling at about or above 2000 RPM.

When you cleaned the throttle body, did you remove the Idle Air Control valve/motor (IAC)? A dirty or defective IAC can be the result of your problems. The IOAC regulates your vehicles idling under various condictions. Try cleaning it first then replace if needed.

Please remeber to rate this solution. Thanks!

1987 Nissan truck, VG30 engine for past several months is idling too fast. Tried adjusting idle - no luck. Searched for RPM idling between 1500 to 2000 all the time? Even with warm engine.

The choke cam, which advances idling when the engine is cold, is possibly stuck in a partially closed position. A spray of penetrant oil with a bit of manipulation of the shaft should fix that problem.

2000 accord v6 engine idle goes up and down after start up

I am having the same issue after I changed my battery today. Upon doing some research it seems like there is some way of aiding the computer with proper idling. I haven't done it yet... plan on going to the dealership where I got the battery, but from my understanding you disconnect the negative line from the battery for a few mins, reconnect, and then apply gas at 3000 rpm for a few mins until the fan kicks on. AND this will help reset your car to proper idling. Good luck

adjust the RPM of the engine when the aircon is off that match the RPM of the engine when the aircon is on but not too much.
