There r no locks to the cylinder just to pluck it off carefully...........may be two locks can be present it just got tightened because it may be not used so far..............just twist a while and u will open it easily......

Part 1 of 3: Getting to the head bolts

Materials Needed
  • Eye protection
  • Gloves
  • Oil and coolant drain
  • Parts cleaner or brake cleaner
  • Shop rags
  • Socket set and ratchet1: Drain the oil and coolant. Put on your eye protection and gloves and drain the oilfrom the vehicle.
    Make sure the vehicle can not be started by removing the negative cable from the battery. Next the coolant will need to be drained so it does not leak when the head bolts are loosened.
    Step 2: Clean valve cover. Use some of the parts cleaner or brake cleaner to clean up the valve cover and as much of the cylinder head as is reasonable.Remove valve cover. If necessary, remove other components to make the valve covers accessible, and start removing the bolts from the valve cover.
    Once all bolts are removed carefully removed the valve cover from the cylinder head. If any valve cover gasket material remains, remove it at this time and clean any excess oil from the edges. Set the valve cover aside carefully as it will be reused with a new gasket once repairs are completed.

    Part 2 of 3: Pushrod engine head bolt removal

    Materials Needed
    • Head bolt socket (if needed)
    • Numbered cardboard
    • Rubber hammer
    • Socket set and ratchetStep 1: Rocker arm and rocker removal. A pushrod engine has long pushrods that protrude through the cylinder head and attach to the rocker rail.
      The rocket arm will need to be loosened first. Many manufactures have a specific sequence for removal of the rocker arm bolts. After the rocker arm is removed, the rockers will be unbolted.
      Set all rocker arms aside in the order they were removed as they should go back to the cylinder they were removed from.Step 2: Remove the pushrods. Remove the pushrods one at a time from the cylinder head.
      Put them into a numbered piece of cardboard as the pushrods will go back into the same slot they came from.Step 3: Loosen head bolts. Use the ratchet begin to break the cylinder head bolts loose.
      Each bolt will be loosened but not removed. Loosen all of the bolts before removing any of the the bolts all the way.
      Step 4: Remove the bolts. Place each bolt through a numbered hole in the cardboard in case the head bolts are different lengths so they can be installed back into the proper hole.
      The bolts may require a special socket depending on the manufacture.
      Step 5: Lift off the cylinder head. Once all bolts are removed, lift up on the cylinder headgently; the head should come free easilyIf the cylinder head sticks, lightly use a dead blow or rubber mallet to tap the cylinder head to be able to remove it. Set to the side in a safe area.
      • Warning: Cylinder head bolts have a specific sequence that is used when removing them. Consult the manufacturer's specifications for the proper removal sequence for the engine being worked on.

      Part 3 of 3: Overhead cam head bolt removal

      Material Needed
      • Socket set and ratchetStep 1: Remove the timing cover. The timing cover will need to be removed to gain access to the timing belt or chain.
        This is necessary because the cam shaft sits in the cylinder head and is attached to the crankshaft with either a timing belt or timing chain.
        Step 2: Time the engine to remove the belt. The engine will need to be timed to avoid damage when the timing belt is removed.
        Each engine is different and will have its own procedures to time. There should be marks on the camshaft and crankshaft that will be aligned to set the timing at top dead center (TDC)Step 3: Remove the timing belt. The timing belt tensioner will be removed or released to take the tension off the belt.
        Once the belt is loosened, it should be able to be slipped of the camshaft in the cylinder head.Step 4: Remove the head bolts. Every engine will have its own procedures for the order that the head bolts are removed or tightened.
        Loosen head bolts ¼ turn each in the order specified, which may require a special socket. Once all the bolts have been loosened they may be removed one at a time. The bolts must be organized or marked in case they are different lengths.
        Step 5: Remove the cylinder head. Once all the bolts are removed, the cylinder head may be removed from the engine. If it is stuck, tap lightly on the side of the head with a rubber hammer to loosen the cylinder head.
        • Warning: Most head bolts are torque-to-yield. These head bolts are single use only and once removed must be replaced. Torque-to-yield head bolts stretch when they are torqued to allow them to tighten properly and repeated application can cause the head bolt to break.

Need to remove valve cover on 2000 Camry Toyota


For the four cylinder engine:

  1. Remove and label all electrical wiring, connectors and vacuum hoses necessary to gain removal clearance.
  2. Remove the spark plug wires. Disconnect the PCV hose.
  3. Remove the four nuts and grommets located on top of the cylinder head cover.
  1. Remove the cylinder head cover and the cover gasket from the cylinder head.
  2. Discard the gasket and replace with a new one.
To install:
  1. With a wire brush or gasket scraper, remove all the old gasket material from the cylinder head and the cylinder head cover gasket surfaces.
  2. When the cylinder head surfaces are free and clean, apply beads of sealant to the cylinder head in the locations shown in the accompanying illustrations.
  3. Install the new cylinder head gasket in the cover. Make sure that the gasket seats evenly.
  4. Place the cylinder head cover with the gasket onto the cylinder head.
  5. Install the four grommets and nuts. Uniformly tighten the nuts in several passes to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  6. Connect the PCV hose. Connect all removed vacuum hoses, connectors and electrical wiring. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Start the engine and inspect for oil leaks.
  8. Repair any leaks as necessary.
For the V-6 (3.0L) engine:
  1. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  2. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose.
  3. Disconnect the throttle and accelerator cables.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cap assembly.
  5. Remove the V-bank cover. Use a hexagon wrench to loosen the nuts.
  6. Label and remove all emission control valve hoses. Disconnect any wiring interfering with the valve cover removal.
  7. Remove the air intake chamber. This will gain you access to the back valve cover.
  8. Disconnect the engine wire from the left hand side, No. 3 timing belt cover, rear side and right hand side. Most of the wiring is secured by nuts and or bolts to the body of the vehicle.
  9. Remove the ignition coils, make sure the place them in order on a table so not to mix them up.
  10. Remove the 8 bolts retaining the valve covers and gasket.
  11. Clean the mating area of the valve cover and cylinder heads well. If necessary, scrape any left gasket from either surface.
  12. Apply seal packing to the cylinder heads and place new gaskets into position.
  13. Attach the valve covers. Uniformly tighten the bolts in several passes to 69 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  14. Install the spark plugs in their proper locations, then place the ignition coils into place and secure.
  15. Attach all engine wiring be sure to secure each harness properly.
  16. Install the air intake chamber. Refer to Fuel System .
  17. Attach all emission hoses and wiring.
  18. Attach the V-bank cover.

Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Remove engine air cleaner (ACL) (9600) including air cleaner outlet tube (9B659) .
  1. Loosen drive belt tensioner (6B209). Remove drive belts (8620) .
  1. If LH cylinder head (6049) is being removed, perform the following:
    1. Remove oil filler cap (6766) .
    1. Remove power steering pump front mounting bracket retaining bolts.
    1. Remove generator (GEN) (10346) and belt idler pulley (8678).
    1. Remove power steering pump/generator bracket retaining bolts. Leave hoses connected, place pump/bracket assembly aside in a position to prevent fluid from leaking out.
  1. If RH cylinder head is being removed, perform the following:
    1. Remove drive belts .
    1. If equipped with A/C, remove mounting bracket retaining bolts. Leave hoses connected and position A/C compressor (19703) aside.
    1. Remove positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve) (6A666) .
  1. Remove upper intake manifold (9424) .
  1. Remove valve cover retaining bolts.
  1. Remove fuel injection supply manifold (9F792).
  1. Remove lower intake manifold as outlined.
  1. Remove exhaust manifolds (9430) as outlined.
  1. Loosen rocker arm seat retaining bolts enough to allow rocker arm (6564) to be lifted off the push rod (6565) and rotate to one side.
  1. Remove push rods . Identify position of each push rod . Push rods should be installed in their original position during assembly.
  1. Remove cylinder head retaining bolts and discard.
  1. Remove cylinder heads .
  1. Remove and discard old head gaskets (6051) .
Installation
  1. NOTE: Lightly oil all bolts and stud bolt threads before installation except those specifying special sealant.
    Clean cylinder head, intake manifold , valve cover (6582) and head gasket surfaces. If cylinder head was removed for head gasket replacement, check flatness and sealing areas for scratches of cylinder head and cylinder block gasket surfaces. Refer to Section 03-00 for procedure.
  2. Position new head gaskets onto cylinder block (6010) using cylinder head to block dowels (6A008) for alignment.

  10. Install exhaust manifolds as outlined.
  11. Install lower intake manifold as outlined.
  12. Install fuel injection supply manifold .
  13. Position valve cover and new valve cover gasket (6584) on cylinder head and install retaining bolts. Note location of ignition wire routing clip stud bolts. Tighten retaining bolts to 9-12 Nm (7-9 lb-ft).
  14. Install upper intake manifold .Install spark plugs (12405) , if removed.
  15. Connect ignition wires to the spark plugs .
  16. If LH cylinder head is being installed, perform the following:
    1. Install oil filler cap.
    1. Install generator/power steering pump mounting bracket.
    1. Install generator .
    1. Install main accessory drive belt tensioner .
    1. Install power steering pump (3A674) .
    1. Install power steering pump support bracket.If RH cylinder head is being installed, perform the following:
    1. Install positive crankcase ventilation valve .
    1. If equipped with A/C, install A/C compressor mounting brackets (2882) and A/C compressor .

Valve cover gasket, how to replace?


Rocker Arm (Valve) Cover REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 2.3L 4-Cylinder Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Label and remove the spark plug wires.
  3. Remove the attaching bolts for the valve cover.
  4. Remove the valve cover from the cylinder head. If necessary, lightly tap the valve cover with a soft hammer to aid in removal. To install:
  5. Thoroughly clean the valve cover and cylinder head gasket mating surfaces.
  6. Install the valve cover on the cylinder head using a new gasket.
  7. Tighten the valve cover bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
  8. Install the spark plug wires.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.

2.8L 6-Cylinder Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. The following steps are necessary if your car has A/C and if you are removing the passenger side valve cover, if you do not need to remove the passenger side valve cover, skip them.
    1. Remove the A/C compressor belt and the compressor from the mounting bracket located on the passenger side of the engine. Do not remove the lines from the compressor.
    2. Place the compressor with the lines attached on the passenger side front shock tower and secure.
    3. Remove the compressor bracket.
  3. Remove the air cleaner-to-throttle body hose.
  4. Label and remove all necessary electrical and vacuum connections.
  5. Remove the attaching bolts for the valve cover(s).
  6. Remove the valve cover(s) from the cylinder head(s). If necessary, lightly tap the valve cover with a soft hammer to aid in removal. To install:
  7. Thoroughly clean the valve cover(s) and cylinder head gasket mating surfaces.
  8. Install the valve cover(s) on the cylinder head(s) using new gaskets.
  9. Tighten the valve cover bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
  10. Install all necessary electrical and vacuum connections.
  11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  12. Install the A/C bracket (if removed).
  13. Install the A/C compressor and belt (if removed).
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Start the engine and check for leaks.
2.3L and 2.4L 5-Cylinder, and 2.9L 6-Cylinder Engines The 2.3L and 2.4L 5-cylinder, and 2.9L 6-cylinder engines have a two-piece cylinder head, the upper half and the lower half. The upper half is basically the same as a valve cover, except that it incorporates the bearing caps for the camshafts into the underside.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the spark plug access cover.
  3. Label and remove the ignition coils and vent hoses or the distributor cap and wires if equipped.
  4. Check the cam alignment before removing the cylinder head.
  5. Remove the bolts attaching the upper cylinder head.
  6. Remove the upper cylinder head, lightly tap with a soft hammer if necessary. To install:
  7. Thoroughly clean the upper and lower cylinder head gasket mating surfaces.
  8. Apply liquid sealing compound to the upper cylinder head mating surface. WARNING
    Use a roller or your finger to spread sealant, do not use an excessive amount of sealant, or the oil passages could become clogged.
  9. Place the upper cylinder head onto the lower cylinder head.
  10. Check the cam alignment before tightening the cylinder head.
  11. Install Volvo tool number 5454 or equivalent to the upper cylinder head.
  12. Tighten the nut on the tools to seat the upper cylinder head.
  13. Tighten the upper cylinder head bolts, beginning from the center out to 13 ft. lbs. (17 Nm).
  14. Install the ignition coils and hoses or the distributor cap and wires.
  15. Install the spark plug access cover.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.

NEED HELP WITH TORQUE SPECS ON 1998 CHEVROLET SURBURBAN CYLINDER HEADS 5.7


Cylinder Head Removal & Installation 5.7L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  5. Remove both heater hoses.
  6. Disconnect spark plug wires at distributor cap.
  7. Remove distributor cap.
  8. Remove the coolant bypass hose from the water pump.
  9. Remove the drive belt. NOTE: It is not necessary to evacuate the A/C refrigerant.
  10. Remove the A/C compressor from the mounting bracket and set it aside.
  11. Remove the wiring bracket from the rear of the cylinder head.
  12. Disconnect the accessory bracket and slide forward.
  13. Remove the upper and lower intake manifold.
  14. Remove the exhaust manifolds.
  15. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
  16. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
  17. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power steering pump.
  18. Remove nuts attaching the power steering pump to the engine.
  19. Remove power steering pump mounting bracket bolts and nut.
  20. Slide power steering pump/bracket assembly forward and remove stud.
  21. Set power steering pump/bracket assembly aside.
  22. Disconnect the wiring bracket from rear of the right cylinder head.
  23. Remove the generator.
  24. Remove the oil indicator tube bracket bolt.
  25. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
  26. Remove the sixteen cylinder head bolts.
  27. Remove cylinder heads and gaskets.
  28. Clean all sealing surfaces.
To Install:
Right Side NOTE: Clean all dirt, debris, and coolant from the engine block cylinder head bolt holes. Failure to remove all foreign material may result in damaged threads, improperly tightened fasteners or damage to components.
NOTE: Do not use any type of sealant on the cylinder head gasket (unless specified).
  1. Clean the cylinder head bolt holes with a thread chaser and compressed air.
  2. Check the cylinder head locating pins for proper installation.
  3. Place a new cylinder head gasket over the engine block dowel pins.
  4. Install the cylinder head to the engine block.
  5. Apply sealant (GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent) to cylinder head bolt threads.
  6. Install the cylinder head bolts. gm-03-50-685.gif

  7. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence on the first pass.
    • Torque to: 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
  8. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the long bolts (1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 13) on the second pass in sequence to 75°.
  9. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the medium bolts (14 and 17) on the second pass in sequence to 65°.
  10. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the short bolts (3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16) on the second pass in sequence to 55°.
  11. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
  12. Install the generator mounting bracket stud.
    • Torque to: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
  13. Loosely assemble the generator mounting bracket over the stud.
  14. Install all nuts and bolts finger tight.
    • Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
  15. Install the generator.
  16. Install the oil indicator tube bracket bolt.
  17. Install the exhaust manifold.
  18. Install the lower intake manifold.
  19. Install the valve rocker arm covers.
  20. Install the wiring bracket to the rear of the cylinder head.
  21. Connect the accessory bracket.
  22. Install the A/C compressor.
  23. Install the drive belt.
  24. Install the distributor cap.
  25. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
  26. Install both heater hoses.
  27. Install the upper radiator hose.
  28. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  29. Refill the engine coolant.
  30. Connect the negative battery cable.

How to replace head gasket 1998 Lumina


Cylinder Head Removal & Installation 3.1L Engine To Remove:
NOTE: With some minor variations, this procedure can be used on both the left and right cylinder heads.
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Drain the engine coolant and the engine oil. Lower the vehicle.
  3. Remove the upper and lower intake manifolds.
  4. Remove the rocker arms and pushrods.
  5. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
  6. Remove the engine mount strut bracket.
  7. If removing the left side (front) head, remove the dipstick tube.
  8. Tag for identification, then remove the spark plug wires.
  9. Remove the spark plugs.
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold using the procedures found in this section.
  11. Remove the eight cylinder head bolts, then remove the cylinder head. There are locator pins that align the head to the block. Pull upwards on the head to disengage the pins, then remove the cylinder head to a suitable work area.
  12. If the head is be overhauled, remove any remaining components such as the engine lift hook, the fuel line bracket bolts, the engine coolant temperature sensor, etc., as required.
Position a new gasket, install the head, then tighten the bolts in the sequence shown (3.1L engine shown) 93173g43.gif

To Install:
NOTE: If the head gasket failed, determine the cause. Gasket failure is caused by the following conditions: improper installation; overheating due to a failure in the electric cooling fan system or a leak in the cooling system; loose or warped cylinder head; missing, off location or not fully seated locator dowel pins; low torque on the cylinder head bolts; warped block surface; scratched or gouged gasket surfaces; excessive intake manifold torque and even cracked engine block tapped holes.
  1. Clean all parts well. Remove all foreign material to the bare metal. Do not use a motorized wire brush on any gasket sealing surface. It is good practice to use the proper size thread-cutting tap to clean the threaded bolt holes in the block. This helps assure an accurate torque reading.
  2. Place a new head gasket on the clean engine block deck surface. Many gaskets will have some sort of marking denoting TOP or THIS SIDE UP. Make sure the gasket sits flat and is not hung up on the locator dowel pins. Use no sealer on the head gasket.
  3. Carefully set the cylinder head in place, using care not to damage the gasket. Make certain that the head engages the locator dowel pins that properly position the head.
  4. The bolts should be very clean since dirt built-up on the bolt threads makes it difficult to get an accurate torque reading. These are 'torque to yield' bolts which stretch a small amount when tightened; new bolts are always recommended. On a used vehicle, especially a high-mileage vehicle, it may be difficult to determine if the heads have been removed before and how many cycles the bolts have been removed and tightened. New bolts should be part of any cylinder head service. Use GM Sealer #1052080, or equivalent, on the threads of the head bolts and install all eight bolts, finger-tight.
  5. With an accurate torque wrench, tighten the bolts gradually, in sequence, working from the center outwards. Final torque should be 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm), plus an additional 90 degrees (1/4-turn). A torque angle meter is recommended.
  6. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of the removal process.

  1. Tighten the first design cylinder head bolts as follows:
    1. M11 bolts 1st pass: in sequence to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
    2. M11 bolts 2nd pass: in sequence + 90 degrees.
    3. M11 bolts (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8): + 90 degrees.
    4. M11 bolts (9 and 10): + 50 degrees.
    5. M8 cylinder head bolts (11,12,13,14,15) to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). Begin with the center bolt (11) and alternating side-to-side, work outward tightening all of the bolts.
  2. Tighten the second design cylinder head bolts as follows:
    1. M11 bolts (1-10) 1st pass: in sequence to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
    2. M11 bolts (1-10) 2nd pass: in sequence + 90 degrees.
    3. M11 bolts (1-10): + 70 degrees.
    4. M8 cylinder head bolts (11,12,13,14,15) to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). Begin with the center bolt (11) and alternating side-to-side, work outward tightening all of the bolts.

Install the cylinder head bolts in sequence to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). The bolts must be tightened once, then be tightened again in sequence in the following order:
  1. Step 1: Short length bolt: (3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16), plus 55 degrees.
  2. Step 2: Medium length bolt: (14, 17), plus 65 degrees.
  3. Step 3: Long length bolts: (1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13), plus 75 degrees.

How to remove valve cover to replace valve cover gasket


REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1C-LTC and 2CL-TC Engines
(see Figures 1 and 2)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove and label all electrical wiring, connectors and vacuum hoses necessary to gain removal clearance.

  1. Disconnect the PCV hose.
  2. Remove the six nuts and seal washers from the cylinder head cover. Loosen them in a crisscross pattern.
  3. Remove the cylinder head cover and the cover gasket from the cylinder head. Discard the gasket and replace with a new one.

To install:
  1. With a wire brush or gasket scraper, remove all the old gasket material from the cylinder head and the cylinder head cover gasket surfaces.
  2. When the cylinder head surfaces are free and clean, apply beads of sealant to the cylinder head in the locations shown in the accompanying illustration.

  1. Install the new gasket in the cover. Make sure that the gasket seats evenly.
  2. Place the cover with the gasket onto the cylinder head.
  3. Install the six nuts and seal washers. Tighten the nuts to 65 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  4. Connect the PCV hose. Connect all removed vacuum hoses, connectors and electrical wiring. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. Start the engine and inspect for oil leaks. Repair any leaks as necessary.

CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL

2.5L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Drain cooling system and engine oil.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Upper radiator hose and heater hose
    • Right side fuse/relay box and move aside
    • Engine undercover
    • Resonator and air cleaner case
    • Engine top cover
    • All electrical and vacuum lines at the head
    • Fuse hose quick connector at fuel tube side
    • Engine harness and power steering hose bracket
    • Timing chain
    • Drive belt tensioner
    • Camshafts
    • Spark plugs
    • Exhaust manifold
  5. Support the engine from above and below with a suitable jack and hoist.
  6. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Power steering pump and reservoir and wire aside
    • Auxiliary drive belts
    • A/C compressor and wire aside
    • Upper sway bar links
    • Front and rear engine mount through bolts
    • Lower ball joints
    • 2 steering gear housing mounting bolts
    • Front suspension member bolts and front suspension member
  7. Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown and remove the cylinder head.

To install:
  1. Clean the gasket surfaces.
  2. Using new head gaskets, install the cylinder heads.
    NOTE If possible, replacement of the head bolts is suggested.

  3. If replacement of the head bolts is not possible, perform the following bolt measurement:
    • Measure the diameter of the head bolt 0.43 in. (11mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    • Measure the diameter of the head bolt 2.17 in. (55mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    • Whenever the size difference between the 2 measurements exceeds 0.0091 in. (0.23mm) the head bolts must be replaced.
  4. Apply clean engine oil to the bolt threads and seating surfaces and tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence as follows:
    • Step 1: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm).
    • Step 2: Loosen all the bolts completely.
    • Step 2: 29 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
    • Step 4: Plus 75–80 degrees clockwise.
    • Step 5: Plus 75–80 degrees clockwise.
  5. Install the front suspension member and tighten the bolts to the specifications shown in the illustration.
  6. Install or connect the following:
    • 2 steering gear housing mounting bolts
    • Lower ball joints
    • Front and rear engine mount through bolts
    • Upper sway bar links
    • A/C compressor
    • Auxiliary drive belts
    • Power steering pump and reservoir
    • Exhaust manifold
    • Spark plugs
    • Camshafts
    • Drive belt tensioner
    • Timing chain
    • Engine harness and power steering hose bracket
    • Fuse hose quick connector at fuel tube side
    • All electrical and vacuum lines at the head
    • Engine top cover
    • Resonator and air cleaner case
    • Engine undercover
    • Right side fuse/relay box and move aside
    • Upper radiator hose and heater hose
    • Negative battery cable
  7. Fill the cooling system and engine oil
  8. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

A cylinder head removal tool is provided for removing the cylinder head from the engine block of an engine.The tool comprises an elongated bar made of tool steel with means for bolting the bar to the cylinder head and for mounting pusher bolts which can be tightened down onto exposed threaded ends of frozen studs holding the cylinder head. As the bolts are tightened down onto the studs the cylinder head is gradually lifted upward free from the studs.
