Yes I have the same problem with my 95 JGC all wheeldrive. The light for "service the 4 wheel drive switch" has been coming on for months now, and it is not at any certain times just here and there and sometimes comes on constantly and sometimes not often at all?

My 95 grand cherokee says service 4wd switch is this a problem

The 4wd switch is the indicator that tells the VIC (vehicle information center) if you are in 4 low or 4 high. Have it replaced, but first check wiring, that more likely the wiring from the switch to the VIC is damaged.

you could have a vacuum leak which would enable the transfer case to not recognize that the switch has been activated.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps flashing "Service 4WD switch".

You will probably find the oil level in the exchange box is low and the sensor is activating.

Jeep 1995 Grand Cherokee: Service 4WD switch

This is actually a very easy fix.
The switch is on the transfer case, you'll see wires or small harness going to it.
It should be the only electrical switch on the transfer case.
It unscrews by using a socket or wrench.
