I would look at the plug wire's at night, this is when it is easy to see any leaky wires, there will be a glow around the bad wires, spraying them with water also helps to figure out which wires are at fault and causing a miss-fire

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

have the intake gasket checked. spray carb/choke cleaner around intake gasket and if rpms change then you have a bad gasket which causes rough idle bad fuel econ

84 crx starts fine and idles fine in park and neutral, but dies immediatly when shifted to drive or reverse. Will run very roughly if pumping accelerator. What's going on?

You might want to check the engine for a vacume leak.Once the rpm's drop it may have a big enough vacume leak to not keep it running under a load.

2003 montero sport. will not idle since battey boost

sit with foot on gas at steady 3000 rpm, then turn on all your lights, hazard warning lights, heater, and window defrost, if the power drops , then you need a new battery....sometimes the battery power can control the engine idle, the alternator is only for charging the battery, not for running the cars electrics, this is the battery's job

1999 F250 4x4 Rough idle, miss when warm. No CEL.

I know this will sound Stupid But, Change the Cap Cap. If the Seal is Bad on the Cap it will allow air Into the Fuel tank and Cause your Rough Idle.

when battery is disconnected sometime the system needs to reset itself like the idle speed control goes out of wack. What I recommend is to make sure you didn't know any vacuum hose or any air intake hoses were not broken in the process of replacing alternator. Double check everything and make sure its all in-tact. If all is good then start vehicle and step on accelerator holding RPM at 2500 for 3 minutes, then let go this should reset the idle speed motor. Contact if you need more help. Good Luck
