Engine rocking during start - 9000 Saab Cars & Trucks

I have the same problem with the 98' 900 SE turbo 2.0L with automatic, and I was wondering if I need to remove the ac unit to get to the motor mount, or if i can just remove the two nuts from the bracket that is attached to the mount, without damaging the ac unit.

also, I have to replace the trans mount and am wondering if the trans mount for the 97 900 SE 2.3L non-turbo will fit for the 98 that I have. Anyone know?

Drain the coolant and start it up. Watch the gauge, don't let it over heat. If it smoothes out after a minute or two. You have a blown head gasket.

Find tdc and adjust valves on a 325 i

With the tappet cover off, rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation until you see #4 cylinder valves rock - open/close in succession. This will be TDC on #1 - set the valve clearances. Turn the engine until your see #2 valves rock, set #5 valves, turn the engine till #6 valves rock, set # 3 valves, turn the engine until #3 valves rock, set # 6 valves, turn engine till #5 valves rock, set # 2 valves, turn engine till #1 valves rock, set # 4 valves. Once you have located #1 TDC (the second mark in the pulley should be lined up with the cover mark), it is only 60 deg. to get to the next cylinder to set. If you accidentally go past the setting point, go back and approach the setting point again in the direction of engine rotation. When you come to setting # 6 the TDC marks should be aligned again.

Surging go up hill in my 92 carvan and when i rev her up it has umpf

I would check that all of my vacuum lines in the engine compartments are on and secure. Also inspect the routing of the vacuum lines. When you go up a hill the motor rocks on the motor mounts. there are three motor mounts if one is worn it could be a source of the problem. But more than likely during spark plug replacement vacuum lines were unplugged and put back on with different routing causing pinching or kinking when the motor rocks going up hill under power.

Im having a few poblems and i'm wondering if they all might be connected: my grandmother gave me this car, she bought it brand new in '97 and has been the only owner besides myself. Just recently she...

Yes, a bad mount will cause rocking, also a misfiring engine will also cause engine rock, the power steering leak may by a hose that needs replacing but before any work is done i would have this overheating checked, maybe just a bad thermostant or a bad cooling fan but these things are not related, these are just normal maintance wear and tear things that happen, hope this is helpful.

if you hit a rock, maybe your oil pan.
inspect the car from below.
if you cannot find it, use a degreaser and clean the engine compartment, then, put some powder on the engine and start the engine. the leak should show up.
check your oil level as well, if you drop a lot, you may need more oil to start your car safely.

Starting issue

Ahh, so when it decides not to start, the engine does not turn over at all?......this sounds like a loose ground/connection on the starter motor will probably need to inspect it which means removing the intake manifold.................If you have little experience working on this engine,I'm afraid you will need to take it to a professional......

The problem could also be your starter relay,...have a look at the fuse block under the hood in the engine bay and check that all relays are seated properly.

2000 Audi A6 (Auto) engine revs up and down during idle, causing slight rocking motion. Is this a major fix or simple tuning problem

It could be as simple as replacing an idle air valve, or could be something electronic. Really needs to be hooked up to a machine to be properly diagnosed.
