When I try to start my 740il the starter just keep turning and it will not start. I have taken it to the BMW dealer twice and they don't seem to know what the problem is. The car is in excellent shape and has had no other problems. The current mileage is 110k

check if it has spark to the spark plugs if so take the air breather off and squirt gas in the engine if it starts you have a fuel problem maybe relay or pump if not odds are your timing chain is out if no spark you got sensors or modem problems maybe a switch problems this may not help but will give you a place to start and if you have to take it back to the shop you can tell them what you have tryed so they know more about the problem but would like more information like is there gas in it and before this happened how was it running have you tryed anything at all yourself

2000 jimmy wont start can it be my crank sensor

Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it recieves the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hotwire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistantly for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizor". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizor". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. There is a lot of info on this site that you can read up on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

ur still in a security lock out with ignition[ key ] system u might have to have it towed to dealer for them to hook up vehicle[contact dealer and advise what is happening and also recheck new key] for reprograming or reset system..some vehicles if u try to start vehicle while in a security mode can get completely locked out of vehicle and if u replaced the whole ignition housing and not just the cylinder the housing is the reader the wiring that is around the housing cylinder tube is what reads the key and syncs with the vehicle if u put in a different one or the wiring is damaged vehicle wont start and will stay in security mode

Bmw 740 il key broke in half at remote part car

Yes it is, but just having the key near the ignition is enough to start the car. If you can turn the ignition with the broken key, hold the broken part in your hand and see if it will start. Hopefully the chip isn't damaged. I know that when GM keys are replaced, they glue the old key under the dash to make it work. Hope this helps.

My tundra wont start but all the lights and radio

That might be a possibility. Asssuming when you say it wont start you mean it won't crank over. First check battery voltage at the battery with a dvm when you turn the key to the start position. Then check the voltage at the starter when you turn the key to the start position. If both readings are the same and you must have a reading of at least 12dcv. Try turning the ignition key to the on position( not the start) and jump the positive voltage from the starter to the solenoid terminal. The starter should crank over if the proper voltage is present. If the starter just clicks or just attemps to start. yes, you need to replace your starter
