I have a 1994 toyota 4runner. When a stopped usually up hill, I give it gas it goes very slow, even though the rpms revs up. when i hit 30 miles an hour it seems normal. It also acts like this when at ground level sometimes.

thanks for the update, has the transmission fluid been checked, it may just be low on fluid, check it with the engine warm on level ground at idle in park, check the condition of the fluid as well, does it look dark and smell burned? If so it is a sign that the transmission may be on it's way out, please let me know after the fluid is checked.

I have checked everything you have mentioned and everything seems ok.

The only other thing I can recommend doing is to remove the transmission oil pan to inspect the oil pickup screen and check the bottom of the oil pan for any metal particles or clutch material, the transmission seems to be slipping on take off which could be due to worn clutches, clutch plates or leaking internal seals.

I have a 1990 toyota pickup DLX ext cab V6 5-speed

If it seems to run well otherwise, you might have a partially obstructed catalytic convertor. Usually if this is the problem, the engine will also bog down even if you try to rev it up when it is in neutral.

I think you need to have it looked at by a local mechanic. By what you describe it sounds like your engine could be severely damaged.

Clean mass air flow sensor good, make sure air cleaner is in good shape, then retry. If your using an oil soaked air filter system like K&N, it can cause that also.

My rpms wont go over 3000 on my 94 toyota 4 runner.

the V6 has a rev limiter in gear that keeps it under this in first gear. put the tranny in Power mode if it's an automatic. it will **** more gas, however.

95 toyota 4runner running bad. can not figure it out.

Check the timing and compression of the engine. It sounds like you either have a blown head gasket or a the timing jumped.
