I have a 2002 with the 3.8l v6 and while moving, when I step on the gas to go, it's like the car bogs down very badly and doesnt want to go. I've changed the fuel filter and the throttle position sensor. Anyone else had this issue?
The 2001-2002 3.8L V6 Naturaly Asperated (RPO L36 - Vin K) engines experience a problem when the front endcone insulation from the catalytic converter breaks away and blocks the front of the first catalyst brick preventing free flow of exhaust gas through the converter. GM has issued a special policy adjustment extending the warrenty of the catalytic converter for 10 yrs or 120,000 miles regardless of ownership. a dealer will replace it at no cost! take it in. i just did and my car runs like new!
I have an 02 Impala and when it did the same thing I found out the catalytic converter was clogged and had to be replaced.
My daughters 97 Monte Carlo was doing the same thing and got to the point where it would not idle under 1500 rpm. I added a bottle of Lucas fuel system treatment with injector cleaner to her fuel tank and took it out on the highway for about 75 kilometers and the problem went away.

First check that the rad fins aren't plugged with leaves, dirt etc. To clear use water hose from the rear of rad and with high pressure blow towards fromt of rad--If this doesn't work it prob is ur thermostat or water pump

Have someone do a back pressure test on you catalytic converter. I had the same problem and it turned out that my converter was almost completely plugged. I was also getting a check engine light indicating a misfire on cylinder 4. Once the converter was replaced, the problems went away.
